I believe the driveway and parking lot are both okay but please use caution. It will still be extremely cold in the morning so please stay safe.
Due to the forecast for continued snow/sleet/rain and extreme low temperatures the center will be CLOSED again tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16th. The driveway is known to be very slick in freezing weather. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you. Please stay safe and warm with your kids. We will hopefully see everyone on Wednesday.
***Parents:**
Due to the forecast for snow and ice during the early morning and daytime hours tomorrow the center will be CLOSED, Monday Jan. 15th. We will assess the area tomorrow afternoon to let everyone know about opening on Tuesday morning. Please stay safe and warm with your children.
We have a few remaining Georgia Lottery funded Pre-K slots available for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. To enroll your child, stop by the office in the main building to get your enrollment packets. The office is open 8:00 to 5:30 daily.
Your child must be four years old by September 1st and must be a Georgia resident to be eligible for this free (lottery funded) Pre-K.
The first day of class is Monday, August 7th 2023. The class meets Monday through Friday from 7:45 until 2:30. Parent orientation and open house will be Thursday, August 3rd at 5:30 pm.
We are currently needing to add to our amazing quality rated staff. Our center has an opening for a part-time cook position and an afternoon part-time assistant teacher position. Applicants must be able to pass a comprehensive background check. If you are interested in joining our team, please send resumes to [email protected].
How do you celebrate recognition from the State for providing high quality child care? With high quality chocolate from Cocoa Asante!
To become Quality Rated by the State, a program must submit a portfolio and have an assessor spend 3 hours in each classroom. During an assessment, the assessors observe the teacher's interactions with the students, assess health and safety practices of the classroom and the physical environment of the classroom. Programs are Rated as 1, 2, or 3 stars based upon scores.
We entered the Quality Rated Program in 2015 as a 2 Star program. Each reassessment we maintained the 2 star rating. In 2020 COVID happened and in person assessments were suspended. Finally in 2022, in person assessments returned. We submitted our portfolio in June and were visited in August. Today, FINALLY, I received the official notification that we are a 3 star Quality Rated Program.
This is the result of the hard work and dedication of our program director Heather Goswick Summey and our ever hard working staff. Congratulations and Job Well done!

Our Story
At Schoolzin Schoolzout we provide developmentally appropriate activities and materials to guide the children in five learning domains from Georgia’s Early Learning Standards (GELDS) ; 1. Physical Development and Motor Skills, 2. Social Emotional Development, 3. Approaches to Play and Learning, 4. Cognitive Development, General Knowledge, 5. Communication, Language and Literacy. Our philosophy is that play and a welcoming environment are important parts in child care. Our classrooms are designed to foster curiosity, safety, warmth and learning. We also believe that teachers should adapt teaching techniques to the way the child learns and not the other way around. All teachers, from the Infant class to The GA Lottery Funded Pre-K, create lesson plans and assess the children’s developmental progress. Assessments are shared with parents twice annually. Our program’s staff have a combined total of 115 years experience and 10,000+ hours of training in Early Childhood Education. Due to our ratios being lower than the state’s ratios and years experience of staff, we are able to understand children on a deeper level and discern what is the typical behavior, temperament and overall health of the child. Because of this vast knowledge, we can determine if developmental milestones are being met and help parents determine if more in-depth assessments are needed from doctors or therapist.
Monica Layne, the program’s owner, is a Regional Ambassador for the Quality Rated Program's Peer Support Network. She believes that high quality child care is the foundation for every child's growth and development, and all of Georgia’s children should have access to high quality child care.
