We are excited to share that on Thursday, May 30th, 2024, Southern California Emergency Medicine partnered with a local high school to host a highly successful sports physical clinic.

During the event, we completed 535 sports physicals for students preparing for the 2024-2025 school year.

Here at Southern California Emergency Medicine we are proud to offer low cost sports physicals year round, no appointment is need just bring your sports physical form and come on in.

We are open 7 days a week from 9am-9pm.

Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, older children and adults can also get it. It is characterized by a fever, sore throat, and a rash with blisters or sores on the palms of the hands, soles of the feet, and sometimes on the buttocks. It's caused by several types of viruses, most commonly the coxsackievirus.

The illness typically spreads through contact with respiratory droplets from an infected person, such as through coughing or sneezing, or through contact with contaminated surfaces or f***s. It's most common in the summer and fall months.

HFMD is usually not a serious illness and most people recover without treatment within 7 to 10 days. However, it can be uncomfortable for those affected, especially young children. Treatment usually focuses on managing symptoms like fever and sore throat, and maintaining hydration. It's important to practice good hygiene, such as washing hands frequently, to prevent the spread of the disease.
