Have you ever noticed how some people are just really dedicated to their work? Like Takis here, working hard trying to steal scooters.
So, this witness is a community hero. See what Takis didn’t realize was that this hero noticed him stealing her scooter, and put out the help signals. UCRPD received the communities help signal, and responded in an instant. Can you guess what Takis does? He runs off to steal another scooter! At this point, he’s just playing ‘ catch me if you can’ with our UCRPD.
When your UCRPD catch up to to talk to him, he lies about being a student. Really? In what world do you lie about being a student while trying to steal scooters? “I’m a student.. of CRIME”
Turns out Takis had pinky promised he would be a law-abiding citizen. It turns out that he was in possession of illegal items on a university campus. So, it’s not just a scooter-stealing spree. It’s a full bone crime buffet. UCRPD had to es**rt him to the downtown jail for him to explain how he broke his pinky promise. Takis was booked for more violations than a Netflix user has passwords.
So, remember, folks, if you see someone out there, just know they’re working hard at being caught. And our vigilant witness is the real MVP here making sure our scooters stay right where they belong!
National Night Out 2024
This past weekend, UCRPD was involved in such a meaningful event. Congratulations to all the athletes for their participation and accomplishments in the 2024 Special Olympics Bowling Competition! Your dedication and spirit truly make a difference.
Last night, Officer Stratmoen was conducting a routine area check on campus when he came across an unattended electric scooter. Recognizing the potential for it being stolen, he proceeded to conduct a records check which confirmed that the scooter had indeed been reported stolen earlier that same day. He promptly contacted the victim and successfully returned the scooter to its rightful owner.
Officer Stratmoen’s vigilance and prompt action resulted in the recovery of stolen property and a positive outcome for the victim.
🔹🔹This incident serves as a crucial reminder to our UCR Community about the importance of registering your scooters/bicycles/etc. Registering your scooter is a simple yet effect way to protect your investment and ensure that authorities can assist you promptly if the need arises. 🔹🔹

On the cool night of 07/17, while the campus is desolate on summer break Jason and Haddie decided to pay UCR a visit. Unknown to them UCRPD officers patrol the campus streets preventing crime. Officers Stratmoen and Huang happened to notice these visitors as they were not abiding by the laws in the vehicle they were driving. The visitors were es**rted to an area near the Glen Mor parking structure.
During a conversation with our 1st time visitors, Officers discovered that our visitors were not affiliated to UCR and “did not know” it was illegal to drive without a license. After educating them about drivers license requirements, our keen Officers discovered a large amount of illegal drugs and stolen personal identity information in their possession.
The driver Haddie, who was on probation for identity theft was in possession of several forms of identification of other folks. Haddie said that she also didn’t know was illegal to have a hobby of collecting such information. Jason, a registered s*x offender was in possession of approximately ½ pound of methamphetamine.
Jason and Haddie won themselves a free ride to our downtown county jail for their visit to UCR.
UCRPD wishes you a happy and safe Fourth of July!

Everyone meet Israel,
Last Thursday, Israel was spotted attempting to steal multiple E-scooters near the A wing of Pentland Hills. The student called UCPD.
UCPD Officers responded to Pentland Hills and located Israel near two unsecured scooters he claimed he owned. Israel also was found to be in possession of burglary tools and a methamphetamine pipe. Israel was subsequently arrested for violating his probation by being in possession of said items.
This is the second time UCRPD has arrested Israel for attempting to steal E-scooters on campus.
The next day, a UCR student came into UCPD to report that her scooter had been stolen. Through investigative means, UCPD was able to happily reunite her with her E-scooter!
