The 504 Corporation along with South Central Small Business Development Center held our annual lender golf outing yesterday at Montgomery National Golf Club. Our panel this year consisted of Greg McKush, the owner of Montgomery National Golf Club, who utilized 504 financing to construct the new club house, Tyler Scholl, co-owner of Busch Brothers Machining in New Prague, MN, which utilized 504 financing to purchase the real estate and equipment from the prior owners of Busch Brothers Machining, Dan Hardel, banker at Frandsen Bank & Trust - Montgomery, and Dwayne Lee of the 504 Corporation. Moderator for the panel was LuAnn Vanderwerf, board member for 504 Corporation. The panel discussed the benefits of working with their banker and the 504 Corporation in achieving their goals for business expansion and ownership.

Also presenting information on regional resources were Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation and Community and Economic Development Associates (CEDA).

After a fabulous lunch catered by Pizzeria 201, everyone headed out to enjoy the beautiful day hitting some golf balls on the fun themed Beatles course.

Yesterday was Bring Your Cat to Work Day. Tigger wanted to show everyone that he is a working feline. Prior to his hard work day, he had to hydrate with sink water, hence the wet head.

This week the 504 Corporation along with the Southeast Minnesota Small Business Development Center - SBDC (Rochester) hosted our annual Lender training at Willow Creek Golf Course- Rochester, MN. The panel included Marc Woolman, former business owner, Karen Heimdahl, Sylvan Brewing and Krystal Campbell, Sprouts Childcare & Early Education Center. Our moderator, Aaron Casterton, Keen Bank, asked questions pertaining to their start-up procedures, their financing solutions, their planning strategies, their successes and obstacles. The business owners provided valuable information and demonstrated that hard work, determination and willingness to work with economic development organizations was key to their success.

Last week, the U.S. Small Business Administration Minnesota District Office recognized Manny Perez as SBA’s Minnesota Minority-Owned Small Business of the Year at his Subway location in Terminal 2 at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP).
