I hope to see you out and about tonight!
Hello! Today I'm backing and bagging these gorgeous prints of paintings by Natasha Chart, and am pretty happy to be surrounded by all of this color. I hear that she will have them available tomorrow for at her studio. Thank you to for your trust in reproducing your art!
Until 6 today ๐ผ๏ธ๐
OH HI! Happy New Year! I'm back after a nice little break. I hope you had a nice one too. Check out this MF DOOM piece by When Cielo brought this in, I was pretty pumped! I happen to love both DOOM and Billy, so framing this felt a little kismet ๐ฅน Cielo is amazing and wanted bold, bright colors that also let the art pop. We opted to float this print on a vibrant yellow, with a double mat in chestnut and a pop of maroon. The blue-green comes in by way of this beveled moulding, which helps to bounce your eye right back to the art. I love how this turned out! Thank you to Cielo for the fun time. And remember, ALL CAPS.
10-6 today! ๐ผ๏ธ
Thank you all for a truly lovely year!
See you in 2024!
Hiiiii. It's that time of year for custom mats and ready made frames to shine. It's also the last day to see Small Show!
I'll be making Christmas miracles happen from 10-6 today ๐ผ๏ธ๐

Thursday's Child, by Robert Marx.
A little while ago, Michele brought this gorgeous print in for the whole to do. She knew she wanted a charcoal mat, and that was about it. We found the gray with just the perfect amount of warmth, and added a fillet for good measure. The notched detail of the frame mimics the stripes the figure is wearing, and the elongated mat margins add a bit of deserved pomp. Finished with museum glass, Thursday's Child is protected for perpetuity. Thank you to Michele for the pleasure of working on this!

Oh hello. About a week ago, Larry brought in this beautiful work by OVSKA. "Still Life Under A Blue Sky", is a collage on wood panel and it is absolutely stunning. We looked at a few black and metallic finish frames, but none of them were 'it'. Everything that should make sense, just felt flat and generic. So, I went to wall and pulled the blonde maple burl ๐ The tonality and movement of the wood pattern draws the eye to the center of the collage, while also providing a softer stopping point. I then used a spacer and museum glass for perfect clarity and UV protection. I love how this turned out. Thank you Larry!

Hello! Check out, Morning Storm, by Mike English. A few weeks ago, Mike uploaded his file over at lumierephoto.com. He specified he would like his print on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Pearl paper and that he wanted it to be 30x15, both fabulous choices. Joe made his print, and then it was off to me for the classic exhibition frame treatmentโ a white mat, and a black frame. This presentation allows for the focus to be entirely on the photo, with the framing interacting as little as possible. This stunner is headed off to Image City Photography Gallery, as part of their annual juried exhibition, The Magic of Light. Thank you to Mike for the trust! This was a great collab. The Magic of Light opens on 1/2, with a reception on 1/5.

Happy Saturday! ๐๐
Jim brought in his correspondence with Chester Gouldโwhat a treat it was to work on this! We opted for a double float mount/ pedestal mount combo for these precious objects, keeping it clean with white on white. The fun came through by way of this aqua beveled moulding, which angles the viewer in, and of course museum glass was used for perfect clarity and protection. Thank you, Jim for bringing in awesome things!
10-2 today! ๐ผ๏ธ๐
Happy Friday! ๐ A few weeks ago, Emma brought this delightful snapshot of her Grandma in for the whole to do. The deckled edge of the photo definitely called for a float mount, so I opted for this pedestal treatment. Both the top mat and snapshot are slightly elevated, creating space and depth. I went with a generous mat border, in order to give both space as well as a sense of importance to the subject. Just look at her! She's amazing. This blonde burl frame is perfect, as it subtly nods to the pattern on the swimsuit and lends a sense of timelessness. Finished with museum glass, this snapshot is now the heirloom it was meant to be. Thank you Emma! I loved this project.
10-6 today ๐ผ๏ธ๐
It's also the last day to order custom framing for under the tree!
Oh hello. Let's take a moment to appreciate this calming sceneโI would love to there right now with a book.
Steve likes things pretty simple and with absolutely no frills, don't even try it. So when Arlie brought this in for him, I knew the drill. This work is so inviting, that using white felt far too stark and alienating. Instead, we opted for a muted khaki, which pulls at the subtle mid tone from the center of the print. I also used a weighted top and bottom for the matting, that nods to the pictorialists, their often natural subject matter, and their presentation. Historic and modern looking! The narrow, ebonized walnut frame acts as a great stopping point, while also drawing you back into the center of the print. Museum glass saves the day with perfect clarity and UV protection. Sometimes no frills can look so ๐

Thank you to Arlie and Steve!

Tomorrow is the last day for custom framing for under the tree ๐ฌ๐
Wednesday shop views๐
The season is in full swing here, and I've been framing so many awesome things that I unfortunately can't show you ๐๐๐
Just a reminder that this Friday, 12/15 is the cut off for custom moulding for under the tree!
Until 6 today ๐ผ๏ธ๐
Hello! Just a heads-up that the order cut off for custom framing is this Friday, 12/15! Bonus pic of my little dog, Matilda Jane, guarding the tree at all costs.
10-6 today! ๐ผ๏ธ๐
Oh hello.
Check out this noble mister. He is so statley, that an 8ply mat with an exaggerated weight were the way to go. The heavy bottom adds height and importance, and the 8ply is just really nice sometimes. A narrow, distressed moulding was used both in order to nod to the medium of the art, as well as add a bit of warmth. Finished with museum glass for perfect clarity and UV protection. A truly fitting tribute to the very best boy๐พ
10-2 today! ๐ผ๏ธ๐๐
We made it! Happy Friday ๐๐
Literacy Rochester has been reenergizing their space and preparing for their 60th Anniversary Open House for quite some time. Thanks to them, I've had the pleasure of housing and framing some real Rochester historical gems. Take this delightful drawing. Done in the 90's, this little rendering was stored folded, but safe otherwise. We went full Christmas whimsy with a stacked frame in weathered red, topped by a leafed silver with a red relief ๐
Finished with museum glass and spacers, Santa's train to Literacy Station is protected for perpetuity.
Literacy Rochester is hosting their 60th Anniversary Open House Thursday, December 14th from 4:30-7:30. Thank you to Josh and Literacy Rochester for trusting me with your treasures!
10-6 today! ๐ผ๏ธ๐๐
Happy First Night! ๐
A few weeks ago, Arlie brought in this calming scene for the whole to do. We opted for a float mount, in order to show the deckle edge of the paper and to give the piece some space. The scene is so soft, that we extended that vibe into the frameโthe white wash and slight bevel invite the viewer in and to stay awhile. I then finished with museum glass for that perfect clarity and UV protection. So beautiful. Thank you Arlie!

Look at how lovely this print by turned out! When Anthony brought this in, it had fallen off the wall and the previous frame was a bit damaged. He decided on a full glow up, and I'm so glad he did. We landed on a pale yellow-green top mat, with just a peep of black underneath. This anchors the figure, while also giving space. The wide, traditional style of the frame adds weight and importance to the subject.
Enjoy your new office art Anthony, thank you for coming in. And thanks to Ya'qub for making beautiful work!
10-6 today ๐ผ๏ธ๐
Happy Tuesday ๐

Oh hello. A few weeks ago, Holly brought in this beautiful painting done by her friend. She knew she wanted a shiny, chrome-like frame, but that was about it. We looked at over matting, but it just didn't feel right. Floating was definitely the way to go, but on what? The whites, grays and blacks just weren't hitting. Enter my secret weapon, deep yellow-green! This color really pulls out the warmth in the grays of the both the paper and the tones of the painting. We then landed on this mouldingโwhich is shiny and chrome-like, but also has movement that nods to the art. Another excellent collab with Holly! Thank you for bringing in cool things!
10-6 today ๐ผ๏ธ
And 10-3 tomorrow ๐ฆ
We made it! Happy Saturday โ๏ธ
Check out this map of Edinburgh that Annie brought in. After some sussing, we decided on a single deep, yellow-green rag mat. The tone of the mat helps to ground the high and low contrast areas of the map, all while being the perfect neutral. And the narrow, antique white moulding was just the all around right choice.
Thank you to Annie for bringing this lovely project in!
10-2 today! ๐ผ๏ธ
Happy Friday! โ
A few weeks ago, Annalisa brought this fabulous needlepoint in for framing. We immediately knew that this moulding made with love by
was the perfect choice. The way the block pattern compliments the negative space in the needleworkโ perfection ๐ฅน
This beauty is finished with museum glass for the best clarity and protection.

Happy Saturday. And, Happy Grand Opening Day !!!
Awhile back, Jenny and Albert brought in many wonderful things for framing. This photo from the August 18th, 2019 Hong Kong Protest March was one of them.โ
We opted for blue-black silk matting, with just a peek of yellow. The texture and the direction of the silk lends a gentle nod to the rain, while the yellow provides hopeful optimism. And the yellow frame was just an absolute must in this case.
Congratulations to Jenny and Albert! Their hard work and love of their community is inspiring. Pop on out to to celebrate and see their beautiful shop!
Happy Friday! Enjoy some shop views ๐
Today I get to to a few float mounts, an awesome cross stitch, and fit some great local art.
Small Show ison view and looking gorgeousโyou should come see for yourself! And the Food Drive is going strong. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far ๐
10-6 today! ๐ผ๏ธ
Oh hi. A few weeks ago, Alexis brought this stunning Pavel Banka work into the shop. She wanted it to be a focul point in her space, while not looking out place among natural stone and warm wood tones. Upping the warmth in the matting allows for the full tonality of the gray to shine through. The clean, walnut frame finishes the work nicely, without creating drastic finite edge. Finished with museum glass for the best clarity and UV protection. Stunning!
Until 6 today ๐ผ๏ธ
Hello! I have never fixed my mat cutter more than in the last 2 days. Cool news is, now I know how to do all of that. I don't want to get behind, so I am just going to remind you that Small Show is on view through 12/22.
