The World Refrigeration Day (WRD) is internationally recognized on June 26th, 2024.

June 26, 2024, has been selected as the World Refrigeration Day (WRD), the theme of which is “Temperature Matters.” The contributions of engineers around the world personally affect each and every one of us, making our lives better in every conceivable way. This is why, World Refrigeration Day (WRD) has been set aside to recognize the birth date of William Thomson, 1st Baron Kelvin on June 26, 1824, also recognized as Lord Kelvin in refrigeration world. The World Refrigeration Day (WRD) is an international day established to raise awareness about the importance of refrigeration technologies in day-to-day life. As we start a fresh new week, I would like to express sincere thank you to each individual for the amount of work put together each day. The week of February 18th – 24th is deemed National Engineers Week and is a time to recognize the arduous work that you put in every day. We work in a very dynamic challenging industry, where the good news is mostly no news. The last few years have presented our world with new challenges that you all hold the keys to decode & solve effectively. The next several years will present us with more of the same, and how our community responds are going to have a reflective impact on our planet. It is an excellent time to be an Engineer to serve the planet.

Also, this “National Engineers Week” is acknowledged by our local government as well as community. Please see a combined proclamation received from City of Rochester and Monroe County, officially declaring the week of February 18th as National Engineers Week by both authorities.

Establish in 2022 to provide scholarship opportunities to students in fields related to Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning. This scholarship is in memory of Charles Lynch, ASHRAE Rochester president (1973-1974) and advocate for HVAC-R careers.

ELIGIBILITY
1.) Full or part-time students.
2.) Demonstrated financial need or merit.
3.) MCC GPA of 2.7 for continued eligibility.
4.) Enrolled in one of the following MCC programs: AAS or certificate in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning or AAS in Mechanical Technology.

September 15th was the Rochester ASHRAE YEA Chapter Annual Fall Social, which was held at The Playhouse // Swillburger and featured arcade games, beer, food and an evening of fun with friends and colleagues and a message from our chapter president Matthew Kremers

September 12th was the Rochester ASHRAE Chapter Annual Fall Social, which was held at the Webster White House Lodge and featured barbecue, beer, and an evening of fun with old friends and industry colleagues. Dinner was catered by Texas Bar-B-Q Joint from Spencerport and YEA hosted a Co****le tournament with prizes.
