From morning worship at Oakland where we had a time of prayer and laying on of hands with our children and youth to evening worship at FBC Wilmington where Patrick was ordained to the Gospel ministry, it was very special day!

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this smorgasbord of snacks for the staff of Sullivan Middle School Falcons!

Our youth mission team will return tomorrow skilled at painting, demolishing, and having a great time together!

We had some leftover wraps, fruit, and cookies from today’s lunch and learn. It took a maximum of 10 minutes to bag up the leftovers and drop them off at the Covenant Community Fridge. There is no need for food to go to waste, we have neighbors who are hungry and will happily eat your leftovers. This community refrigerator is located in the parking lot of Covenant Presbyterian Church on Celanese Road (in front of the Food Lion).

Our youth mission team arrived in Corbin, KY Monday afternoon. Thy kicked off their time together with a meal from the original KFC to fuel them for Tuesday which would include a lot of painting in FBC Corbin’s Family Life Center.

This space houses a community food pantry and other ministries. They are hoping to be able to use it for even more after all the work is finished!

Despite significant delays, we made it home a little before 1 this morning. While our bodies were exhausted, our hearts were refreshed from a week of both sharing God’s love with and receiving God’s love from some incredible people in Puerto Rico.

In between our work we made time to explore the island and build some very special relationships with each other.

Our final day of VBS included water slides, cotton candy, popcorn, lots of hugs, a few tears, and hearts full of gratitude for our new friends. 🇵🇷

Wednesday and Thursday consisted of VBS, trash pick-up, cleaning the sancruary of our host church, making blessing bags for the VBS children, cleaning and small projects at a partner church, more VBS, meal ministry for those experiencing homelessness, and more!

This morning we worshipped with Primera Iglesia Bautista de Río Piedras, the oldest Baptist church in Puerto Rico, as they celebrated their 125th anniversary. And because they are Baptists, a delicious meal followed worship. During the afternoon we joined the masses for a refreshing swim. It was a great day and we are ready for the work that will begin tomorrow!

The new school year will begin soon, and folks are coming in the Ministry Center to shop for Middle School uniforms. The stock is desperately low at this point. Donations can be dropped off at the Ministry Center on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9AM-11:30AM or the Church Office, Monday - Friday from 8AM-3PM.

We finished up our last two local Mission Mondays doing some behind-the-scenes cleaning at HOPE of Rock Hill and picking up litter from the blocks around OBC. Next up is two weeks of mission teams serving in other communities.

Join us Sunday for our anniversary celebration. Worship begins at 10:30AM. Rev. Kasey Jones, Coordinator of Outreach and Growth for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, will be preaching.
