Our CEO & Founder, Dave Dirubbo, wanted to create a company that not only strives to be its best on job sites but also inspires us to be our best on our wellness journeys. He organizes company group yoga sessions and, when the weather is nice, company bike rides as well. He is always happy to listen to others if they have an idea to organize a group activity. Throwback Thursday: Today, we look back on the completion of the Edward "Ted" Healy Sports Complex at Archbishop Williams High School (AWHS). This sports complex includes a new 6,000-square-foot field house with a 1,725-square-foot exercise room, four locker rooms, athletic and trainer offices, and equipment storage. The complex also expanded and updated the original 1963 Memorial Field.

The renovation involved upgrading and expanding the existing structure to create a field house that offers sufficient spaces for locker rooms, workout areas, offices, and storage that reflect the school’s robust athletic program. Additionally, the existing field surface and track were replaced, and the throwing area was relocated to optimize space usage and facilitate spectator viewing. A cupola from Cape Cod Cupola was also installed within the building to allow natural sunlight to enter the space.

In addition to the sports complex, Acella Construction has previously worked with Archbishop Williams High School on other substantial projects, including a complete renovation of the school’s auditorium with specialized audio/visual elements, updates to the gymnasium and locker rooms, and improvements to the cafeteria kitchen's mechanical systems.

Did you know that May is National Water Safety Month? It's a great time to raise awareness about the importance of water safety. In honor of this month, we wanted to share our work at the Big Blue Swim School located at 90 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen.

This $2.2 million project transformed a former Stop & Shop grocery store into a 10,000-square-foot swim school facility. The new location is part of The Loop, a 338,470-square-foot open-air shopping center that houses a variety of retailers, restaurants, entertainment venues, fitness centers, and service-oriented businesses. As the largest and most established shopping and dining destination in northern Massachusetts, The Loop-Methuen is owned by Lexington International Realty.

The Big Blue Swim School is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to teaching children how to swim and be safe in and around the water. The school's goal is to help children build their water skills in a fun and safe environment.

As we welcome the start of May, we can't help but look forward to the warm weather and the upcoming summer season on Cape Cod. Today, we are reflecting on our work at the Pelham House Resort, a stunning oceanfront venue located in Dennis Port. With over 13,000 square feet of event space, this resort offers the perfect setting for weddings, meetings, and other special events. Not to mention, the on-site restaurant and rooftop bar provide breathtaking views of Nantucket Sound. The Pelham House Resort is truly an unparalleled gem on Cape Cod, and we highly recommend checking it out if you're planning a visit to the area.

The Masters tournament is underway this week, and at Acella, we are reflecting back on some of our golf club projects. Among the projects we've featured are Cummaquid Golf Club in Yarmouth Port, Wollaston Golf Club in Milton, and the Milton Hoosic Club in Canton. We wish all the players participating in the 88th Masters Tournament good luck!

Throwback Thursday: Take a look at some of the impressive work Acella did at Boston University. Our team had the honor of working on BU's Medical Oral Surgery, Communications Lab, and Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine Sterilization Lab. We're thrilled to announce that we'll be attending the BU vs. Merrimack hockey game tomorrow night!

Our latest project entails constructing a brand-new building for a single-story nursery school. : With all of these rainy and cold days, we are reminiscing about warmer weather. Summer of 2015, where we announced the completion of a new clubhouse for Cummaquid Golf Club! The $4.5 m, 14,200 square-foot new, state-of-the-art clubhouse, including a formal dining room overlooking the golf course, grill-style lounge and restaurant, locker rooms, pro shop, 70’ covered porch for outdoor dining – (featuring Ipe wood decking), board room, office, and storage rooms. This is a project we look back on and are proud to have been a part of!

Throwback Thursday: Today, Acella is looking back on our work at the South Coastal Animal Hospital. The 1,500-square-foot ground-up addition to the existing animal health care facility, located at 1389 Main Street in Weymouth, includes four new examination rooms and an expanded treatment area to allow the staff at South Coastal Animal Health to treat multiple patients simultaneously. The project encompassed a fire sprinkler retrofit into the existing building to accommodate the new overall footage, per code requirements.

Last Friday, Acella had the opportunity to wrap gifts for My Brother's Keeper. It was a great day to spend time together to help our community. My Brother's Keeper has been a source of happiness for children and relieved worried parents who were unable to gift their kids during Christmas. This experience was a great way to kick off the holiday season.
