Thank you to the APWA Sacramento Chapter! Their generous grant made to Sierra College Foundation was used to purchase 3D printers for the Sierra College Engineering Department. At our March Board of Directors meeting, Sierra College Mechatronics Instructor Roy Ingram shared incredible student stories about the Sierra College Auto Club and the Welding Club. In December, they entered the $500 car that they built in the 24 Hours of Lemons race at Sonoma Raceway. When a collision ended their race, welding students Erica Snow led the charge along with Sean & Neha (President & VP of the welding club) to help other teams whose cars needed repair. Thanks to them, at least four cars hit the checkered flag that day!

Erica doubled down in February at Thunderhill in Willows. She took a welding cart out and tirelessly lent her skills to six other teams including a veteran led team and a group a senior citizens who were racing a Pinto. Thanks to Erica, the other teams had a safe, successful race. She was definitely the welding hero of the event!

Sierra College Foundation proudly presented Erica with a $1,000 award. Those funds will help her as she completes her education at Sierra College and will enable her to buy her own welding equipment. Her future is bright! Congratulations Erica!

This week, we celebrated our Construction Fundamentals Boot Camp grads as they received their fully stocked tool belts! Louie Garcia teaches and inspires students about careers in construction and then connects them straight to work. Many thanks to US Bank for their generous support that enables Sierra College Foundation to provide tools for student graduates!
