Why are Regular Dental Check Ups Important for Your Child?
- Helps prevent dental issues
- Establishes good oral hygiene habits
- Gives the ability to monitor tooth development
- Helps to prevent tooth decay
- Builds a positive relationship with the Dentist
- Addresses thumb-sucking and pacifier use
- Can provide early intervention for orthodontic issues
- Promotes overall health
We encourage annual exams with a few sprinkled in here and there as needed throughout the year! To make your child’s routine check up easy to remember try scheduling it at the beginning of the year, when school gets out for summer, or at the beginning of the school year at the end of summer. 🦷🪥
Pairing a regular check up with a significant time helps to remind us! Feel free to call the office or click the link in our bio to schedule! See you soon! 👋🏼
Happy New Years! Here's to the brightest smiles in 2024! 🎉
Silent Night, All is Calm - Smiles are Bright! 😀💫🎄
This is a little reminder parents that your littles should have a dental check up every six months. These regular check ups are crucial for maintaining good oral health, allows Dr. Jude and Dr. Lacey to monitor the development of your child’d teeth, and address any potential issues early on.
With your help at home with brushing twice a day, flossing, and maintaining a healthy diet combined with routine check ups we can keep your littles smile healthy and bright all year long! ♥️
Jingle All the Way to Healthy Gums! 🔔
Just like jingle bells add joy to the holidays, flossing adds joy to healthy gums!
Remember what Dr. Lacey said, make flossing fun and a habit! Have your children pick out their own flossers, keep them in the car or in the kitchen, or even next to the couch…encourage your littles to grab a flosser and get used to it while they are on the way to school, watching you cook, or even during their favorite show.
Don’t forget to join in and help keep your gums in tip top shape too! 😀
Snowman's Frosty Fresh Breath! ⛄️🌬️
Did you know snowmen always have frosty fresh breath? 😉
Encourage your littles to brush their tongues so they can have that snowman-approved clean feeling! Brushing our tongues removes bacteria, prevents bad breath, improves taste sensation, reduces plaque buildup, enhances overall oral hygiene, and complements regular brushing.
Make it extra fun and brush along with your kids! Show them it’s a fun habit to have so it sticks with them!
❄️Snowflake Smiles!❄️
Each snowflake is unique, just like our smiles! 😀
To teach your child about the uniqueness of snowflakes, grab a piece of paper, some child safe scissors, fold the paper a couple times, and begin to cut different shapes. Once you’re done open the paper and see your own personal snowflake. Remind them they are special and each one of their teeth are so important!
Elf on the Toothbrush Shelf!
Do you do Elf on the Shelf in your home during the Holiday season?!
Consider introducing a fun Elf twist with a ‘Toothbrush on the Shelf.’ Give Elfie a toothbrush with a travel toothpaste and share that even Santa’s elves take care of their teeth!
This can be a playful way to remind kids to brush their teeth during the holiday season! Bonus points mom and dad if you brush alongside your littles and Elfie! 😉
Santa Still Wants You to Have Fun!
We know yesterday we shared a pretty long list of foods that aren’t so great this holiday season but thankfully, there’s still so many other delicious treats you can enjoy that can benefit your teeth instead of harm them!
🧀 Dairy! Think cheese, yogurt, and milk (hello, hot cocoa!) are all at the top of the list for healthy Christmas snacks and treats! Dairy helps boos saliva production, which helps prevent tooth decay and keeps your enamel in shape. A bonus is the calcium in dairy keeps our teeth strong!
🍌 Fruits and veggies! Fresh, sorry canned anything, fruits and veggies don’t contain any added sugars making them extra good for our teeth! The hight fiber keeps teeth free from food particles and also increases saliva production, adding another level of protection against cavities!
🌰 Nuts! Time to put that Nutcracker to use 😉 Nuts are high in healthy fatty acids that help prevent gum disease!
Something fun to do with your kids this holiday season could be to make their own charturrie board! Balance is always key so keep things 80% festive, fun, and sugary and 20% healthy, and tooth friendly! 😊
Eat Healthy like Santa’s Reindeer!
We know it’s a bummer, but there are some foods that may cause everyone in the family’s teeth some trouble. Here’s a short list we put together to remind you that after you have these to brush and floss asap!
Candy canes/hard candies in general, caramel, baked goods full of sugar, dried fruit, and sugary drinks. 🍭🍬
We all love cookie days with our loved ones, sharing pie after dinner, and snacking on candy canes while wrapping presents -just remember moderation is key!
A Little More Water, a Little Less Eggnog (or juice)!
This is another tip that is beneficial for parents too!
During the holiday season we all may be tempted to enjoy sugary drinks a little more frequently. These type of drinks often leave film on our teeth, which bacteria love to eat, ultimately leading to a cavity. 🦷
Remember water is so important to sip on between any drinks (and meals) to help clear away any particles still caught on the teeth!
Cheers to no cavities this holiday season! 🥂
Be Prepared like Santa’s Elves!
Always have the essentials on hand for you and the littles! 🪥🦷
Be sure to include all of the travel necessities, gauze, children’s pain reliever, and the number for after hours at your Kid’s Dentist location!
We never want to delay dental treatment even around the holidays, letting them fester can make things much worse. Feel free to call us if you have any questions!
Treat Your Teeth like Ornaments…Gently!
It’s important to get teeth friendly gifts for your littles who are still learning about their mouths. And parents, never use your teeth as a tool! We want to be sure we are setting a great example for our children and using your teeth as a tool to open gifts or cut string can weaken your enamel.
We encourage healthy teeth all around this holiday season! 🦷🎄
It can be hard to fit in a dentist appointment right in the middle of the holidays, but skipping out on a regular checkup and cleaning is as bad as the Grinch stealing Christmas!

Dr. Jude Crutchfield, D.M.D.
Board Certified Pediatric Dental Specialist
I am very excited to be a part of this wonderful team and have the opportunity to live and work in Rocklin. I feel very fortunate to have found a practice whose existing treatment philosophy is so similar to my own.
While in dental school I had the opportunity to help form a non-profit dental humanitarian organization and travel around the world. During these dental mission trips I was able to treat many children. It was then that I learned how much I enjoy working with kids and being a part of their dental experience. Because of this, I was fortunate enough to further my dental education by specializing in the treatment of children and adolescents.
