Today is Juneteenth, a federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.

Juneteenth is a reminder of the importance of justice, equality, and resilience. This historic day marks the moment when news of freedom reached enslaved African Americans through Union troops who’d arrived in Galveston, Texas, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

As a company, we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone’s contributions are valued and voices are heard. In observance of Juneteenth Day, all Federal Government offices are closed and Chevo is closed as well; join us in honoring this day and continuing the journey towards a more equitable future. The final award is the Stacey Godlove Pillar Award. A word about it:
In 2013 we lost a very dear colleague, Stacey Godlove, to leukemia. She was a friend to many but also a great consultant and strong leader at Chevo; she embodied Chevo's culture and was greatly respected in our company and our industry.

This award was originally the Pillar Award; it recognizes the employee who embodies the Pillars of our corporate culture, exemplifying exceptional professionalism and outstanding work ethic. It is our highest award and, in the wake of Stacey's passing, we renamed it to also honor her legacy at Chevo.

Last Friday, Chevo held its Fall All Hands meeting; it was great to see so many of our team in person!

We gathered to reflect on the year's achievements, discuss the future for Chevo, and honor the contributions of our employees. We reviewed our milestones and accomplishments throughout the year, highlighting our financial growth and expansion. A key focus was outlining strategic plans for sustained growth in the upcoming year.

A highlight of our Fall meeting is the recognition of outstanding employees who exemplify Chevo's values and made exceptional contributions that year. Awards were presented through our Annual Awards to Celebrate Chevo Excellence (AACCE) program in various categories, celebrating excellence in leadership, innovation, teamwork, service to our clients and teammates, and overall performance.

And after the presentation, we held an ugly holiday sweater contest; there was some stiff competition, with over 25 people wearing some fantastic “winners”!

We appreciate all the hard work and great camaraderie everyone brings to Chevo and congratulations to all our AACCE winners, who will be highlighted in the coming week!

Chevo recognizes the importance of Native American Heritage Month, acknowledging one of our own employees, Corey Newman, who’s a member of the Choptico Band of Piscataway-Conoy Indians tribe. He participates in several community events within the DC/Maryland area and will be attending the 10th Annual American Indian Heritage Month Celebration, presented through the Maryland Commission on Indian Affairs Governor’s Office of Community Initiatives and attended by Governor Wes Moore, on November 20th at Bowie State University.

The Washington, D.C. area has been home to a flourishing indigenous community for thousands of years, and even today, many of your neighbors and coworkers are proud members of tribal communities. Chevo is proud of our diverse company culture and recognizes the contributions of Native Americans throughout our country’s history.

In recognition of Veterans Day, Chevo is observing this federal holiday and will be closed. We are proud to include a number of veterans among our team:

Last Saturday, LLS Light The Night held its annual Light the Night Walk in downtown Rockville and though the forecast was heavy rain, it held out long enough to have a successful event! Chevo Consulting, LLC thanks everyone who made it out—it's always an inspiring evening, listening to folks share their personal stories, and we appreciate everyone's support.

While the walk is over, and Chevo finished as the third largest corporate fundraiser (thank you to BDO and Capital Bank for raising so much!), there's still time to donate. We are proud to announce the award of a Prime Task Order through DHS ICE!

This 5-year, $10M Prime Task Order, awarded through the OASIS Small Business Pool 1 contract vehicle, expands our long-term partnership with the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement with the award of the Budget Support Services and Congressional Budget Justification Task Order. Chevo will be providing budgetary, executive, and program Support Services to the ICE, Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Office of Budget and Program Performance (OBPP).

This is Chevo's twenty-eighth prime OASIS Task Order at DHS and our fifth within ICE.

Chevo Consulting has been a partner in supporting the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) since 2013, when one of our own employees, Stacey Godlove, was first diagnosed with leukemia. We have continued to raise funds and express our support for this important organization since her passing, to honor her memory and others.

This year, Chevo is sponsoring LLS’s Executive Cocktail Hour events; last Wednesday, the second of three was held in Frederick, MD. These events are a networking opportunity held for local corporate leaders to get together, learn about this worthy cause, and hear personal stories of those who’ve benefited from the support of LLS.

We appreciate those who came out to show their support for LLS and we look forward to meeting more people at next week’s event in Vienna!

This Memorial Day weekend we thank those who served in our armed forces and the families and friends of those who’ve lost their lives defending our country.

Last Thursday, Chevo held its Spring All Hands meeting at Dave & Busters; it was great to catch up in person with so many of our team!

Our Spring All Hands covered a lot of ground— new business wins and new opportunities coming down the line; goals for 2023; celebrating our new hires and acknowledging anniversaries of others (Ed Sam received a 15-year anniversary award!); our upcoming summer event plans for the company; and more.

We appreciate everyone who was able to attend, whether in person or virtual; we look forward to another great year ahead!

Throughout the years Chevo has supported several charities, many brought to us through our employees. Recently, our Vice President of Delivery Services, Cyndy Iwan, told us about an organization important to her: The Calvert K-9 Search Team. Their mission:

“The Calvert K-9 Search Team is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization. We provide fully equipped, highly trained and nationally certified search dog teams, search personnel and search management personnel utilizing the latest technology aids to find lost or missing people. We respond to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police and Maryland Law Enforcement Agencies for use in Southern Maryland counties. Calvert K-9 Search Team trains year-round and in all weather to maintain and enhance our professional-level search and rescue services; additionally, we provide safety education to the local community, including the nationally recognized Hug-a-Tree program.”

Donations to CK-9 support this important work of helping locate missing people by funding tracking devices, communication radios, and other equipment to help search dogs and their handlers effectively find people in distress.
Chevo has made a donation and will match all employee donations through the end of May.

As a woman-owned small business, we understand and value the importance of women's voices in the workplace and in our communities, and we celebrate all the amazing contributions of the women who are a part of Chevo. Happy International Women's Day!

Nearly a month ago, a devastating earthquake hit southern Türkiye, leveling cities across the region and spreading into neighboring Syria; countless aftershocks followed over the last few weeks. As the death toll has reached over 45,000 in Türkiye and over 6,000 more in Syria, recovery efforts continue with the hope of finding more survivors, while thousands now shelter in makeshift communities.

Chevo has donated to several organizations and will continue to support relief efforts by matching employee donations; as recovery efforts continue, we keep everyone in our thoughts.

In honor Black History Month this year, Chevo will be donating to Jack and Jill of America, Inc.. Founded in 1938, Jack and Jill of America's mission focuses on five key areas:

"Each chapter plans annual programming activities guided under a general five point programmatic thrust: cultural awareness, educational development, health (education and advocacy), civic (legislative advocacy and service) and social/recreational areas. Through service projects, Jack and Jill of America creates a medium of contact for children to stimulate their growth and development. Through lobbying, educational programming, dissemination of education materials, and the organization of community and charitable events, Jack and Jill has promoted the public awareness and interests of children including child development, child growth, child quality of life, child care and the promotion of children’s rights."
