Our Story

La Canela opened in late 2007, as a sister restaurant to La Flor de la Canela- our popular restaurant in Gaithersburg. Having owned and operated La Flor de la Canela for over 12 years, we felt it was time for us to share our cuisine and culture with a broader audience.

The food we offered was a combination of authentic Peruvian cuisine and old family recipes. We strived to provide delicious food that was made to order and made from scratch; expectations that we held for both La Canela and Carbon: Peruvian Chicken and Grille.

Being family owned and operated: we know how important family meals are. We wish to serve food that bring families closer and makes people happy in an ambiance of colonial Peru.

We are pleased to have been in this business for over twenty years and wish to thank our loyal customers. For our new customers, we wish to offer a small taste of our beloved Peru and we hope to be an accurate representation of our country!
