We're seeing a growing number of fire damage at both residential and commercial properties in recent months, including this fire damage restoration job one of our crews has been working these past weeks.
Whether you manage or own commercial property, you know that fire loss is not only devastating but can leave a huge financial impact. Water damage is an additional loss after a fire, since firefighters use significant amounts of water to extinguish such a fire. With water damage comes the chance of mold growth. This is why it’s important to have the water completely extracted and dried as soon as possible.
Count on SERVPRO Team Gutierrez to get your property damage back to pre-loss condition. Our technicians are highly-trained and certified in all areas of fire, water & mold remediation and restoration, as well as biohazard cleanup and mitigation. Give us a call 24/7, 301-340-1313.
Cleaning & disinfecting vehicles, including our local police cruisers, is part of our biohazard cleaning services in addition to property restoration. Many of our SERVPRO cleaning products are eco-friendly and formulated by our own staff chemists. We use plant-based and hospital-grade disinfecting solutions that will not harm humans or animals.
Call us if we can be of help – whether it’s fleet vehicle cleaning, or property damage restoration & repairs. 301-340-1313. ☣️🧹🔨

Meet Jackie Simon, a seasoned real estate professional for nearly 5 decades who has fought for civil rights even longer than that. In the local real estate circle, Mrs. Simon is widely known for advocating for accessible housing for people with disabilities, having fighting the fight since the 1980s.
Putting in the extra effort to help home buyers and sellers with disabilities is well worth it, Mrs. Simon said in a National Association of REALTORS® article. “Once you learn something about their needs and how to meet them with some out-of-the-box resources, it’s tremendously satisfying.”
For agents helping clients with disabilities, Mrs. Simon offers this advice in the NAR article: “If kitchen chores are tough, show properties accordingly. Deaf individuals may not mind that listing under the airport. Most of all, realize that almost everyone is depending on others for basics like getting to a grocery store, so properties with close shopping are usually popular.”
If you’re fortunate enough to know Jackie Simon, she is a warm and wise friend who takes pride in the fact her life is fulfilling due to her father’s suggestion when she was young: Make time to volunteer! Did we mention Mrs. Simon happens to be our customer! Solar panels on the roof of her home caught fire last Spring. Her son, who happens to be a local settlement attorney, referred her to our SERVPRO team and we took care of the cleanup, restoration & repairs.
We just want to recognize & honor Mrs. Simon (pictured here with our SERVPRO Team Gutierrez brand ambassador Trinh) for her great contributions to make our community a better place. Thank you, Jackie Simon!

Imagine being out of your home for nearly 2 years due to fire damage devastation. That’s the story of over 30 families whose homes in a Rockville community were severely damaged and whose homes our SERVPRO Team Gutierrez crews have cleaned, restored & rebuilt since the Oct 2022 fire. We’re happy to report that the families have returned to their safe homes now – and we welcomed them back with care packages that our office team has thoughtfully put together these past couple of weeks. It’s a small gesture that means so much to these residents who were ecstatic to have a home again!
What a huge difference a week makes! We hope you're enjoying the sunshine & beautiful weather this week, as captured here by one of our crew chiefs arriving at a commercial job site for a water damage restoration project.

UPDATE from our company meteorologist as of 8:30 Monday morning 8/05: Tropical Storm Debby is now Hurricane Debby, which made landfall this morning as a Category 1 storm in the Big Bend area (north) of Florida. Debby will track across Florida and SE Georgia today and drop down to a tropical storm. By tomorrow morning, Debby will be back out over the Atlantic and will remain over the very warm waters of the western Atlantic for 2 days, which is ample time to intensity back up to, at least, a Cat 1 Hurricane before making landfall somewhere near Myrtle Beach, SC, according to our SERVPRO meteorologist. Heavy rain and risk of flooding are expected.
Did you know… SERVPRO has our own meteorologist?
Due to the direct impact storms and other Mother Nature events have on much of our work, our HQ-based Lela Davis is Servpro Industries’ meteorologist with 17 years of forecasting experience.
Speaking of storms, our company is currently following closely a Tropical Depression that could impact Southeast US this week. Tropical Depression 4 is in the eastern Gulf of Mexico and expected to strengthen due to the warm waters and lack of wind shear in this area. “Because of the slow movement over warm waters in the Gulf and favorable conditions, I expect Four to become a Category 1 Hurricane before making landfall Monday morning in the Big Bend area of Florida. Four will cross over the Florida Peninsula into the western Atlantic early next week and could easily strengthen to a Category 1 or 2 Hurricane,” predicts Lela, who worked at the National Weather Service in Nashville before joining SERVPRO.
Watch out for heavy rain and increase in flood risk across North Carolina and South Carolina and potentially up the northeast coast this week!
