Today on October 7th Tzippy participated in a meaningful program at Berman Hebrew Academy. Her father shared, “Last year, each day as I dropped my child off at public school, she would ask, ‘When can I go to a Jewish school?’ It was a challenging question, and I would answer, ‘Hopefully, soon.’ Today, on October 7th, as we wrestle with our struggles as a Jewish people, we are able to respond: ‘Today, tomorrow, and always, you are with your people.’ We are incredibly grateful to Sulam for making this possible.”

Today, on October 7th, Tzippy is participating in a mitzvah project with her classmates. Sulam is thrilled to announce Lisa Houben’s participation in the 2024-2025 cohort of YOU Lead, a nine-month leadership development program facilitated by Prizmah: Center for Jewish Day Schools. We are proud to support Lisa’s professional growth through this program!

CONGRATULATIONS to two of our students on their award-winning entries to the Berman Hebrew Academy Literary Magazine, “New Leaves”!!! 🍃 🗒️

Simcha Katzoff won Best Poem for his entry “Lifa Silas,” a rumination on nature and the human condition written entirely in Old English; Lev Gottschalk won Best Prose for his entry “The Thoughts of Bjornstjerne,” a wildly imaginative short fiction piece about a town that suddenly starts hearing the thoughts of one of their members.

Our very own Rabbi Eli Perles has been selected as the recipient of this year's prestigious Avi West Jewish Educator Award! 💙

This award honors the memory of beloved community educator Avi West (z”l), recognizing outstanding Jewish educators who make significant contributions to their community.

Rabbi Perles excels in integrating research-based best practices and Project-Based Learning into his teaching, and is passionate about making Torah learning accessible and enoyable for all students. In addition to his classroom work, Rabbi Perles develops curricula, mentors new teachers, and leads professional development workshops. His innovative and personalized approach to education is deeply admired by all.

Join us in congratulating Rabbi Perles on this much-deserved honor. We look forward to celebrating him at a virtual award ceremony in mid-September.
