We have watched, with much pain, the destruction that occurred as Hurricane Helene made landfall and traveled throughout the southeast United States, leaving in its wake dozens of fatalities and the destruction of thousands of homes and businesses. As we continue to work with the Metropolis of Atlanta to fully research the impact on the area and on our Greek Orthodox communities so that our Holy Archdiocese of America can offer the proper assistance, I ask that you fervently pray for all who are suffering and to also pray for those who are directly giving aid after such a tragedy.

This special video edition of the Fully Human podcast features the experiences of Irene Tunanidas, an accomplished educator and advocate for the deaf. Irene shares familial, educational, and community challenges and blessings she has experienced from early childhood until the present, as well as her hopes for creating greater support for families in Orthodox communities who experience deafness. Using an ASL interpreter and subtitles, we hope this offering will resonate with many in the deaf community.

On this day, we commemorate Saint Mary Magdalene, the Myrrh-bearer and Equal to the Apostles. Saint Mary was from Magdala in Galilee on the Sea of Tiberias, and for this was named Magdalene. In honor of National Women’s Day, I would like to recognize the founder of Coyne Catering, my mother, Kathleen Coyne.
My mom was a catering waitress, and a homemaker, but had always dreamt of opening her own venue. She was the perfect party planner! My mom was happy and fun and loved people; she could coordinate & plan an event while driving car pool.
In 1984, with no backers, no investors, she opened our first venue, the Brecksville Party Center and thus began Coyne Catering!
My mom was a true legend. She worked long, hard hours but our family was always the center of everything she did. She would be happy to know that we are still trying to carry on with her vision of the company she created. That we strive to have Coyne Catering known for personalized service, great food and affordable prices. Every ‘ happily ever after’ she planned gave her joy.
