cathedral of the Ozarks at John Brown university. I wish I'd gotten more pics. all walnut. super fun project completed with my cousin Egan harris
liquor to go on garland right off the 112 exit. new owner, new shelves, displays, and counters courtesy of WS510. go check it out and buy some Jefferson's bourbon. I think they have that. it's goooood! anyway WS510 for custom displays.
steel and wood custom liquor displays for the new owner of Liquor to go on the 112 exit. stop in and check them out and get some Jefferson's bourbon. it's good stuff. there's still more to come from Woodshop 510 at this location.
for those of you hit by the recent storms or tornado whatever it was, I was also hit really hard. I lost nearly every tree in my yard, one of which ended up lodged in my roof after being pulled up by the roots like a carrot.... like it was nothing. that said, not only do I have A LOT A LOT of work to do in order to clear everything out, but that's going to produce a bunch of firewood and hopefully some really neat slabs of wood that I can make stuff out of to mark this time in history. tables, mantles, whatever. if you've got a tree or portion of a tree you'd like to see made into something to remember this week (not that you'll forget) and have a piece of furniture with a whopper of a story behind it let me know what youve got and I'll see what I can do. I think it would be a really neat story to tell grand kids or great grand kids where the table their sitting at came from and maybe even pass it down to future generations. š
I just found these deep in my phone. lol. the Walton art center stairs and all that oak! it's even cooler than I remember. that was chads brain child. lol
gosh FB, it's been a while. I've been busy doing stuff. some decks, some hardware, some fabricating and welding, little o this little o that. got some stairs coming up, I have to find a way to get going on a credenza\liqour cabinet and bar project. building displays for a liquor store. gotta show some support for that cause. thought I'd throw up a few pics of the progress. I know... the mess... IDC. I dreamt this up after talking to the owner and this is what s happened so far. 2x4 steel tube cut welded stripped and clear coated a 5.5'x5' rectangle frame. the supports are short enough they will be hidden, giving the display the illusion that it's hovering. lol. these are what all the booze will sit on.

neat. shipping container home
solid black walnut mantel. that was a tough one. it started as a chainsaw cut 8x8x8. after building a frame around it and a router sled to deck all 4 sides to get rid of the pretzel twist and banana bend in it, it turned out ok.

today is my son's 22nd bday. I almost always usually try to write something inspiring for my kids on their bdays. some life advice or something. that said, 5 years ago I never thought we would see a day like today. I won't go into detail, but I want to acknowledge my son and congratulate him on his deterministic attitude, work ethic, will power, and his integrity. he has made it out of some life muck that not a lot of other could've made it through. I'm really proud of how strong he is in who he is that he's not easily talked into doing dumb s**t. I'm seriously proud of the man he's becoming. no doubt he will better than I. I love you son. I'm proud of you. Happy bday!
first frame and install the window. next climb way up high on rusty scaffolding and continue 2x10 siding. then climb on a small ladder on top of tall rusty scaffolding to finish. piece of cake. š°š
this was also a bit of a challenge. all faux beams and pine shiplap. can't wait to see it stained
then there's this... this is probably one of the neatest things I've worked on. just a barn on the outside. I'll post pics when it's done. also a customer I've been working with off and on since 2015 or 16... more to come.
beams-done.
I did a thing. it was without a doubt one of the top 10 most challenging pieces I've done. a 10 foot tall by 7 foot wide maple built in with a full length slatted door and well, you see. then just to balance the room a slatted accent wall. this pic was taken just before the pieces of crown were put in and before the doors were adjusted, but here it is anyway. this was for a repeat customer who is awesome to work for, patient, and has a great imagination for design.
(the movie guy voice) one man, one day, one beam, 28 feet of hewn pine 15 feet in the air, guaranteed to make it the hardest day of the week. this isn't any ordinary man though. will he survive..... the sea of pine?
I may have just had an epiphany. we will see.
this is the drawing I had. this is what happened....and then they tell me they need to transform. boom.
I'm trying to wrap up a pretty big order for some big shot new Yorkers and I'm no old school welder by a long shot. I can make stuff stick together then hope grinding it helps. lol. I really needed someone that can make a cleaner weld than this.
now while this is probably a $2500-$3000 unit built out of "walnut" up close you can see that this stuff is really little more than plywood and edge banding. the trim is walnut, but let this be a lesson folks. look very close at what you're buying when they tell you it's solid cherry or walnut or some other expensive hard wood. the corners of this stuff will look like Wal mart furniture inside of a year. š”
it needs some end caps, bit besides that phase 1 is complete. bath mat display rack. thanks goes out to my friend Carl Bruns for some beautiful walnut and j.d at penny hardwoods in west fork for some super pretty plywood. customers happy and I'm happy. til next year, happy new years from WS510!
well I'll be darned. I had no idea.
A giant ship's engine broke down and no one could repair it, so they hired a Mechanical Engineer with over 30 years of experience.
He inspected the engine very carefully, from top to bottom. After seeing everything, the engineer unloaded his bag and pulled out a small hammer.
He knocked something gently. Soon, the engine came to life again. The engine has been fixed!
A week later the engineer mentioned to the ship owner that the total cost of repairing the giant ship was $20,000.
"What?!" said the owner.
"You did almost nothing. Give us a detailed bill."
The answer is simple:
Tap with a hammer: $2
Know where to knock and how much to knock: $19,998
The importance of appreciating one's expertise and experience...because those are the results of struggles, experiments and even tears.
If I do a job in 30 minutes it's because I spent 20 years learning how to do that in 30 minutes. You owe me for the years, not the minutes.
