Benton Washington Regional Public Water Authority

Regional Wholesale Water Provider for Northwest Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma

Benton Washington Regional Public Water Authority IS NOT on any type of boil water notice. We are still asking that our customer Utilities request that automatic sprinkler systems be turned off right now and that the filling of pools be deferred until the first week of June. Other than that all other residential and commercial uses are good to go.

There appears to be lot of misinformation going on with regards to BWRPWA and the response to the on-going disaster on social media. First and foremost, there is not a current danger of anyone in the 17 systems that we serve not having potable water. Yes there were power issues at our intake facility but all of that has been rectified and both our intake and plant are on commercial power running at full capacity. At no time did any of the 17 systems we provide water to, run out due to our storage systems running out. There may have been mitigating circumstances on the customer system side, but it was not because the supply ran out. The conservation measures we requested from our customers included two items. Turn off automatic lawn and irrigations systems and request that filling pools be delayed a week. I have seen posts that say the one system or another is running out, or has a limited supply, and that statement is not accurate. We are currently managing the system so that all of our customers have safe potable water being delivered to them and then to their customers. It is going to take us several days to completely fill all components of our storage system, but we are currently able to meet all of our customers' normal household and residential needs and industrial needs at this time. The response to this disaster has been a well coordinated and well worked response between BWRPWA, our customer systems, and Carroll Electric to keep all of you in safe clean water. Consequently anything posted on social media without context and not posted by BWRPWA staff, those posts are nothing more than conjecture, speculation, and misinformation by uniformed individuals. As some of you have asked about when they are going to lift the 4 MG welded steel tank up the pedestal to full height, as of now, the bowl lift is tentatively scheduled to be on Monday January 8, 2023. This is a slow process and will take a few hours to complete. In addition, this lift is weather dependent and right now the weather forecast is for rain and 30 mph winds. If that holds then, the lift will be delayed. Just wanted to gaye everyone a heads up on this project since so many have expressed interest. Let me know if you have any questions and I will let all of you know of schedule changes as they occur.

Crews are just starting on the Hwy 62 Bore near Avoca. We are installing a 72 inch casing pipe on a 300 foot bore under Hwy 62, the Railroad, and an additional side street. The interesting thing about this bore is that is being hand dug approximately 15 to 21 feet under the road. This is a 2 month project with crews operating 24 hours a day to complete the bore. Once completed the casing will house our new 54 inch welded steel line going to Decatur AR to meet the ever increasing demands of NW Arkansas. We will also be adding an additional 10 MG Concrete storage tank once the new line reaches it's termination point.
