We recently became aware of a crisis in Michigan. People are dying, and we can’t stand back and stay silent. We are working on a documentary and were appalled by what we found in our first week of filming.
As a result, we have decided to release a portion of our film to raise awareness and encourage politicians to fix their mistakes. If they continue to ignore this very important issue, more people will die. Please take a look at our footage below and reach out to the politicians involved. We need to make them pay attention and realize that their actions, or INACTIONS, have devastating results and cost lives.

Did you know that, on June 17, 2021, President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act, which officially made Juneteenth a federal holiday? Juneteenth goes by a few different names, such as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, Cel-Liberation Day, Second Independence Day and Emancipation Day. The Wright Museum is hosting a Juneteenth Jubilee Celebration from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Wednesday, June 19.

Congratulations to our friend and partner, Char Combs, for being honored by the Brain Injury Association of Michigan - BIAMI with the 2024 Legacy Community Service and Leadership Award along with Mike Shehadi, RPh and Special Tree alum Randal Bruce, PhD. Char is the Founder and Executive Director of CC Rehab, a member of the Special Tree Rehabilitation System. She has dedicated her career to providing care and opportunities for people with brain injury and other disabilities to maximize their potential and live as independently as possible. We're so proud of you, Char, on this well deserved honor!

Throwing it way back to Leap Day 2012! Special Tree unveiled a newly renovated media center at Ann Visger Elementary School on February 29, 2012. The Day Treatment team spearheaded the project to remake the space, which had been closed for several years.

The Michigan Senate passed bipartisan bills, SB 530, 531, and 575 - that provide the solutions that crash survivors, caregivers, disability advocates and others have called for. Special Tree provides a full range of care for children and adults including sub acute, outpatient, residential, vocational, and home health care services at over 30 locations throughout Southeastern and Mid-Michigan. Special Tree has achieved accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, received the Michigan Quality Council’s highest award for quality excellence, and has been a Detroit Free Press Top Workplace every year since 2009. Helping patients in their recovery to reach the best outcomes possible with maximum independence is our top priority.
