Our process starts by viewing the entire canvas, understanding the space, and the client’s vision. This home had a small yard with a slight slope, which presented a unique challenge. But we love turning challenges into stunning outcomes!

🌿 **Before:** A traditional two-story home with an outdated exterior and underutilized yard space.

🌿 **After:** A sleek, modern exterior with major updates and a complete backyard transformation.

Here’s how we made it happen:

1. **Major Exterior Updates:** We gave the house a fresh, contemporary look with new materials, large windows, and a modern color palette. The front door and railings were replaced with stylish, updated designs.

2. **Driveway:** We replaced the old driveway with a modern, clean-lined design, featuring Techo-Blocs Everest paver, that complements the new look of the house.

3. **Pool:** Despite the yard’s slight slope, we installed a beautiful pool surrounded by chic, minimalistic landscaping.

4. **Patios:** Multiple patio areas were added, creating perfect spots for relaxation and entertaining.

5. **Firepit:** A modern marble wrapped firepit area now serves as a cozy focal point for outdoor gatherings. This area also features a custom marble and steel pergola to complete the vibe.

6. **Landscaping:** Neatly trimmed bushes, modern planters, and stunning cherry blossom trees complete the look, adding both beauty and privacy.

In the client’s backyard, there was an underutilized space that was begging for transformation. The area was largely occupied by an old pond that need a major overhaul. The client dreamed of a serene retreat that could blend seamlessly with the natural beauty of their garden, a place where the soothing sound of water could be heard, but the space was far from realizing that potential.

We are thrilled to unveil the latest masterpiece created by our talented team: a breathtaking waterfall and koi pond that has completely transformed our client’s backyard into a tranquil oasis. So excited for this project. This is new construction and we have a blank canvas to work with. This project is absolutely incredible. We have three fountains, a double koi pond, waterfalls, patios, lighting that is just plain epic. Plantings that are next level. Really looking forward to seeing this one come to life.

This is a photo of a Prickly Pear cactus. We had this example in our Minnesota Garden. The Prickly Pear cactus is one of the most cold hardy cacti there is, with some varieties growing all the into Canada. It survived our cold winters very well. In fact it was much easier than some of the roses we had. Also the flowers were spectacular.

Just came across this project. This had to one of the smaller yards we have ever worked. You do not have to have a large space for it to be enjoyable. We used two pavers in this project Blu 60 6x13 and Villagio. What you see here was the extent of the outdoor space. The rest was an walkway going to a shed and the ally. The firepit had to be portable, the client would swap it out with a high top table for two. This space also had a small fountain. Total area maybe 12x14.
Keep in mind you do not have to have a large space, the small ones need love too.

There is something I really love about an accurate rendering. Before we add any textures this is what your 3D render starts off as. Actually before this it is just a hand sketch on graph paper. It really lets me focus on the details and geometry of the home before we consider all the other elements of an outdoor space. From here we will look at the sight lines and your views as we begin to take your outdoor space into 3D.

This was your typical ranch home that you would find in Twin Cities area. There are thousands of these out there. They are great homes. They are also the perfect candidate for an update and a modern facelift. On this one the roof line was updated, including an addition. The pool was updated and the front and rear yards were completely renovated. Not only can SPACES take care of your outdoor areas, but we can make sure the whole property brings those modern vibes.

Coming soon to RVA. We were given a blank canvas for this project. This spaces is going to impact to many lives for the better. The energy and feedback from the meeting was overwhelming. So excited to get this one started. This is our first park like space.

We rebuilt this pond a couple weeks ago. I absolutely love this space. The team at also did the patio and pergola. I could sit here all day. The sound of the waterfalls is just amazing. And look at those happy 🐠. 😃🐠💯🙏🐟

Most Sunday afternoons I spend designing. In my design lab. I have been thinking about design a lot lately and where Spaces Design & Build is headed. So, today I decided to get some inspiration. Welcome Agecroft Hall. This place is spectacular. The home was originally built in the 15th century in England. Amazing it was dismantled, numbered and shipped across the Atlantic Ocean and reassembled in 1926. Not sure how big it is. The library is 1100 sq feet. The windows 25 feet tall. I will go inside next time.

I Cannot wait to see these grounds in full color.

There are many elements in this garden that I like. Edging the granite edging really completes the garden. The large blue stone patios are absolutely magnificent. All the boxwoods and Crepe Myrtles. The walnut tree outside the cooks area. Left because of its fruit, most would have cut this tree down.

The gardens are linear and very classic/timeless. There are many different levels and places to explore. Something I want to create is more destinations within our spaces that we design. Then the textures, from the plant material to the gravel used in the sunken garden. Agecroft Hall is gem. So many beautiful spots on this 23 acre estate. Totally enjoyed my afternoon.

Every one of our Spaces that we create starts with a 2D design. In the 2D design phase of the project we want to get a feel for the space. We examine traffic flow, space size, your goals for the space. The 2D design is a vital step in the overall success of your outdoor living project.
