I may not be front and center but I am still behind these scenes so let’s see who can figure out the memory verse for August. 🤔-Mrs. Tiffany

Hey Lighthouse parents! This summer, we’re diving into something BIG! When we allow the Holy Spirit to work IN us as we follow Jesus, we can make waves that change the world around us! We’ll take a look at all of the “fruits” of the Holy Spirit, focusing on one each week. This week is all about love! Do you ever think about that word? Did you know that the only reason you KNOW about that word is because of God? The Bible tells us that God IS love. Love is His idea. By sending His only Son Jesus to save us, God expressed His love in the biggest, boldest, most world-changing way ever. We can love others when we understand just how much God loves us!

This weekend's bible story will come from1 John 4:9-13 and we will be learning that we Love Because God Loved Us first and we can love others because God loves us!

This month's memory verse is Galatians 5:22-23 "but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

This week we celebrated the most significant event in all of history, the resurrection of our Savior! Jesus came to do one thing- to make a way for our sin to be forgiven so that we could have a relationship with God. Jesus’ friends were so sad when he was crucified and buried. They thought it was over, but God was just getting started. Three days later, the stone was rolled away and Jesus’ body was gone! Why? Because Jesus is ALIVE! What a great reason to have hope... whatever happens in life remember Jesus is alive.

We started this month with friends of Jesus who had lost all hope. John records an incredible moment that we find in John 11:1-45 when Lazarus died and Jesus used the opportunity to point people to God. Jesus was stronger than even death itself and raised Lazarus back to life four days after death.

Bottom line: whatever happens, remember how powerful God is. God can do amazing things in our lives. We talked about how when we face something difficult or hard to understand we can place our hope in God‘s power and he can help us through whatever we face.

This month we are learning all about compassion and how we can care for others around us. Today we started to make tie blankets to bring down to the homeless shelter. These kids have a heart of gold. Thank you parents for sharing your precious ones with me every weekend. 🥰

This month we are talking about compassion, which is caring enough to do something about someone else’s needs. Compassion and caring go hand in hand. You really can’t have one without the other. As followers of Jesus, we are called to love and care for others as an outpouring of the love and care we receive from our Savior. This month our focus will be to help each kiddo to grasp the deep love and care Jesus has for them so they can then turn around and show love and care for others. Because following Jesus means caring about others.

We kicked off this week by looking over Jesus’ Mission Statement in Luke 4:14-24, 28-30

Have you ever eaten so much of something yummy that you got sick? Ever spent so much time on a screen that you got a headache? We can all think of a time when too much of a good thing was a very bad thing. This past weekend we learned in Proverbs 22:3 that “wise people see danger and go to a safe place. But childish people keep going and suffer for it.” Part of self control is knowing when to say, “I’m full” or “Enough, I’m done.” Knowing when to stop can keep you from getting hurt.

For snack and one of our activities we dipped pretzels in chocolate and used our self control to decorate them. Some had more self control than others. 😊 For our other activity we each got a quarter, a dropper and a glass of water. Everyone was challenged to put as much water on their quarter without it spilling over.

We sure do have some amazing volunteers in Lighthouse Kids.

This past weekend we had a lot of fun learning about self control and how when we lose control it can cause trouble. In Proverbs 25:28 we learned that God‘s Holy Spirit can help us develop self control and have strong walls of protection. For this weeks learning activity we broke up into teams of two and gave each team ten minutes to built strong walls to protect their teams raw egg. After our ten minutes Mr. Dave dropped the eggs from the ceiling to see if we protected them well enough. Of course we had to make it even more enticing and anyone that protected their egg from breaking got to break their egg over my head at the end of service. 😊

Morning Time! Today, let’s start our kid’s day off by acknowledging something they’ve been trying to accomplish, and encourage them to keep at it—the finish line may be closer than they think!

This month we are learning about self control, which is choosing to do what you should even when you don’t want to. Today we learned how Jesus was tempted in the desert in Luke 4:1-13 but Jesus was prepared even before he was tempted. He knew God, and He knew Gods Word. When he faced temptation, He was ready to do the right thing.

Today’s activity taught us the value of being prepared. We broke up into two teams, then we lined up and set two bags full of clothes in front of each line. When we said go the kids were directed to take something out of the bag, put it on, and then pass the bag to the next person. The first time we did this it was challenging for both teams because they were not prepared. The second time we did it both teams went much faster because they had time to prepare, strategize, and make sure everyone knew what they were suppose to do.

Today’s bottom line: Be PREPARED to do the right thing by getting to know God and knowing his Word.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

BIG SHOUTOUT to Miss Lily for being the first kiddo to memorize this months scripture verse. She accomplished this in under a week. I asked her how she did it and she said “Mom and I played school everyday and she helped me learn it.” 🥰

This past weekend we had fun learning about how we can trust God no matter what because He always has a plan. We read in Luke 1:26-56 how Gabriel appeared to Mary. Mary trusted that even though her plans were good, God‘s plan was better. She trusted that God knew what He was doing. And when she visited Elizabeth and sang her beautiful song, she showed how we should celebrate because God has a plan.

We learned that for hundreds of years, people have used lights and other small lantern‘s and fires-to show that they welcome Christmas and God‘s plan for rescue. So each of us made luminaries to show that Jesus is welcome in our hearts and our homes.

This month we are working on memorizing our theme verse John 3:16. Parents, I encourage you to be working with your kiddos to help them memorize this scripture. We are going to have some prize giveaways for anyone that can come in and tell me or one of our volunteers this months scripture from memory.

Just a little teaser for tomorrow’s Lighthouse Kids! Isn’t Christmas the most wonderful time of year? The lights, the decorations, the food, and time with family, it’s just magical! But at the heart of all those wonderful things, Christmas is really about one thing: Jesus! For the entire month of December we are going to celebrate and to kick off the month we are celebrating that God made a way for all of our wrongs to be righted, for sin to be forgiven, for that broken relationship between God and man to be restored. Tomorrow we are celebrating because God can do anything!!!!

Yesterday we learned in 2 Corinthians 8:1-5 that we can always use what we have to help someone else so we decided to make Christmas Cards for those that are currently living in a nursing home . The kids loved to use their creative gifts to make cards of encouragement for others.

As we get ready to go into a day of great gratitude and thanksgiving I need to shoutout one amazing volunteer that has made the transition into my new position of kids ministry director much smoother than I could have ever expected. Mrs. Linda Reese I am SO grateful to God that you have been led to serve in Children’s Ministry. I am excited to see how God will fulfill His purposes in Lighthouse Kids through your faithful serving. You have been an amazing blessing in helping me come up with creative activities, supporting parents in sharing the Gospel with their children and loving on each and every kiddo that we get to hangout with each weekend. I am very grateful for you! Blessings and favor to you and your family this holiday season!
For His Glory, Tiffany

Today we learned about the Israelites and how they longed for the things of their past in Egypt in Exodus 16:2-21; 17:1-7

Our game today showed us how hard it is to live in the past. We broke up into two teams and we had to navigate the paths ahead of us by only looking in the mirror to get us there. It was VERY hard. Not only do we not want to focus on the past but we don’t want to miss out on what we have now by focusing only on the exciting things of our future. God is doing amazing things in all of our lives so the kids shared all of the things that are going well and that they are thankful for right now.

Today we learned about King Ahab and Naboth in
1 Kings 21:1-19, 27. We learned that it is ok to want things. We all want things and need things, and God knows that. He takes care of us, and we can trust Him. But we don’t have to be miserable like Ahab, chasing after more and more stuff. For our activity we broke into teams and saw who could build the highest towers in five minutes. During this activity we noticed that the taller our tower grew, the more stress we felt to keep it up. Always wanting bigger and better can be stressful!

This month we are learning about contentment, how to be okay with what we have and how we can trust God no matter what. Today’s Bible story came from Philippians 4:11-13 and how Paul was content even in prison. Our activity today was to take things that no one needed anymore or what we thought of as not special and make something beautiful out of it. We can make beauty out of the simple things when we learn to be content with what God has already given us.

11/03/2021

Everything we have comes from God. He is faithful to provide what we need. And even more than what we own,
God can also provide what we need to face whatever happens in our life. God has proven time and again that we
can trust Him no matter what. We can complain or become jealous of what others have . . . or we can choose to
respond with contentment, knowing that God has a plan for our lives.

This weekend in Lighthouse Kids we are going to be learning that we can trust God no matter what and that God can help us be content in every situation and circumstance.

Happy November 1st!!!
This month in Lighthouse Kids our theme is "UPcycle, roll with what you've got" and we are going to take the entire month of November to learn what the bible has to says about contentment and how true contentment happens when we put our trust in Jesus.

If you are like me and can not wait until 10am next Sunday to start our new series you can go to your app store and download, for free, the Parent Cue app where you will find devotionals and activities to do as a family that go right along side supporting our series.

Today we learned in 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 that we are one body but many parts. Our activity today included Legos, the unique gifts that God has given each and everyone of us, and how we can do so much more and make a greater difference when we use our gifts together.
