Hair Journeyz with Chrissy
Hi! I'm Chrissy, a Michigan licensed hairstylist and certified holistic trichologist 😊
My first talk through, Lord help! 😂😂😂.
I wanted to highlight what consistency looks like with maintaining consistent hair appointments and at home care. This client’s hair is thriving ✨✨✨✨✨
Happy start to the weekend 🎉
Just a reminder, drink your water! 💧 💦
The journey to healthy health growth starts internally. In the future, I’ll add more information related to how the internal affects what you’re seeing externally related to your hair health and growth!
Water intake should be half of your body weight to keep your skin, hair and body functioning properly (ex.: a 150 pound person should take in 75 ounces of water a day).
It may seem like a lot, but water is truly important to a healthy life and hair journey.
Tea 🫖, infused water, or just plain water works wonders 😍. (Try to avoid adding sweeteners and sugars when you’re getting in your water)
Sometimes I infuse mine with 🥒, 🍋, ginger and mint for getting those essential nutrients daily.
Up that water intake, decrease those stress levels and be consistent with your hair routine for maximizing your healthy hair journey! ✨ 🥰 🎉
37 ✨. 30 and 7. 3 and 7. All biblically significant numbers.
I never thought much of this age as we typically look at the milestones, 13, 18, 25, 30, 35, 40 and onward….. God gave me a new way to look at this age 🙏🏾.
Trying new things, learning from past things and growing every day. Humbly grateful for the wins, the perceived losses that turn into wins because all things work together for those that love God ❤️.
Thank you Lord for this year and all it has brought and will bring ❤️.
😍 Side note: To my lovely clients, yes, I can slay my own hair 😂. I know when y’all come into the shop, I’m usually rocking my hair natural (which I love and y’all do too ❤️) or it’s pulled up, back and out of my way 😂 , but occasionally I dress it up 😉 😘
Having some work fun with my beautiful client ❤️🎉
It’s silk press season ladies, BUT there are alternatives to getting your hair thermally straightened or pressed. This wet set turned out beautifully on this beauty ✨✨✨✨✨. Come try a wet set to give your hair a break from the heat ❤️
Everyday is a reflection of the things that we are thankful and grateful for ❤️. During the month of November, I’m thanking my clients for their support in trusting me to serve them 🧡
Who says you cant get a silk press in the summertime? Gorgeous silk press on this beauty ☀️✨🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I ❤️ a good, juicy two strand twist! 😍
So here’s the truth about two strand twists, they aren’t for everyone 😖😥🫣🫢.
Two strand twists function best when the hair is more full and healthy, with little to no damage to the curl pattern.
One way to know if the hair is healthy enough for a two strand twist, is the hair’s ability to curl at the end of the hair strand. Either naturally or if you wind it around the finger.
Two strand twists will look different on every person because we all have different curl patterns, densities and surface textures of hair.
Here is a look at a two strand twist on a client that has a tighter curl pattern (left) and when I’ve done my own (right). There’s a difference in our curl patterns, density and surface texture, but both heads have healthy curls to create the look that most people want for their two strand twist, from root to the end of their twist.
Heat, mechanical and even color damage can disrupt the integrity of the curl, so be careful with the styles you’re choosing ladies!
✨ Appointments available for this cool, low tension summer style ✨
A no heat, curly ponytail is perfect for this weather! ☀️🥵☀️
The hair is molded in its natural state and it’s a perfect solution for those wanting to switch up their typical wash and go for a sleeker summer look 😍
Have a great weekend ! ❤️😘
In this post, I wanted to show something that clients are not always aware of, but I like to educate them about it.
In these two pictures, I circled two areas where there is noticeable thinning in the middle of the hair on both of these clients. Even without them telling me, I knew that this is a tell tale sign of someone that may wear a lot of ponytails in their hair. Not weave ponytails, but simply just pulling their real hair back into a ponytail.
I know ponytails are convenient. I wear them too and ponytails are not bad, but incorrect wearing of ponytails can cause damage over time. The damage won’t show initially, but when you wear them a lot over time, the damage will start to show.
Here are some you can combat this:
1. Don’t wear ponytails all the time. It would be great to find some alternative ways to pull your hair back instead of always pulling it back with a *ponytail holder (*insert whatever name you call it 😁)
2. If you do wear ponytails a lot, take it out at night. Massage your scalp in that area where the ponytail was. Let your scalp breathe at night
3. The use of rubberbands in the hair is not recommended 😖
4. Based on the last one, you’re like what can I wear then? Silk scrunchies and ponytail holders are best.
5. Last, but not least (I have other suggestions for my clients 😁), don’t put in tight ponytails. If your ponytail is giving you a headache, my dear, it’s probably too tight!
✨ First time clients receive a hair consultation to understand their hair’s individual needs. Appointments available for first time clients! ✨

This client came in complaining of tangling issues. After giving her a perimeter trim that we’re all so fond of seeing on Instagram 🙃, I went in to do a more detailed trim, starting at her nape region (commonly called the kitchen 😂) because this was her biggest problem area for tangling. Can you see why?
When you’re able to see through the hair, this is often a good indicator that you have split ends. Also, the nape area is prone to neglect during the conditioning/styling process, constant rubbing against clothing (especially in the wintertime with coats, sweaters and scarves) and sometimes, it’s unfortunately skipped when stylists only trim the perimeter and even the interior as well, but not the nape.
If you’re experiencing tangling a lot in the nape area, a few things you can do are:
1. Get a good trim in the nape region
2. Focus your conditioner/deep conditioner in this area
3. If you use leave in conditioner, make sure you pay attention to the nape area as well
4. If you are feeling tangles back there, GENTLY detangle with your fingers first, then go in with a comb. No ripping through the hair, the damage will show over time, if it doesn’t show immediately
For this client, since she didn’t want to trim all of the split ends off in this area, we trimmed a significant portion and will continue to trim over time 😎
Hope you’re having a great Thursday ✨

Braid season is here! ☀️
Some quick tips for braids:
1. Make sure your hair is in healthy condition for braids: If you’ve been neglecting getting your hair treated or you’re not consistent with a healthy hair care routine…. Your hair may not be healthy enough for braids. Consult with your stylist prior to getting braids.
2. How do I know it’s not healthy enough for braids? One, even before you get the braids, your hair is dry, fragile and is already experiencing breakage. Once you take those braids out, you’ll get even more than just your regular shedding when you take them out, you have more hair breakage, hair that has been pulled out (another tip, DON’T get tight braids!), and hair that is overly dry.
3. Don’t “protect style” just to neglect the hair. You can’t protect what’s not in check, so don’t get a style for weeks and months and neglect to care for it while it’s in.
4. This isn’t a popular one, but don’t wear those braided styles too long. I know, you paid a lot of money for it and you want to get your money’s worth. I know how we can do 😂. But at what risk to your real hair? I really think 4-6 weeks is max for a braided style, but that’s me. And even during those 4-6 weeks, you should be able to cleanse and condition the protected style. If you can’t…. You may want to go shorter on how long that style is in. Between tension, sweat and buildup, your scalp health should be maintained 💆🏾♀️
5. Treat your hair prior to that braided style! Not just condition, treat! Give your hair all the goodies and a lot of love before and after your braids to keep the hair healthy 💁🏾♀️

Roller set hitting once again! 😍.
It’s amazing the differences in the type of curls you can get based on the type of roller that you use.
With the weather heating up 🔥☀️🥵, the girls are loving wet sets as a break from a silk press or just to try a new look 😎.
Try this style as an alternative for the summertime if you still like to wear your hair down but don’t want to fight the heat and humidity with a silk press.
Happy start of the week ❤️
Perfect shot of my client still handling business while under the dryer 😍.
Starting off Mother’s Day weekend right! This wet set is 🔥🔥🔥! The girls been loving these roller sets 👏🏾 👏🏾.
Loose natural hairstyles don’t only mean wash and go’s or silk presses; these roller sets not just for your granny anymore 😁.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful mothers and a special remembrance to all the beautiful mothers that are now watching over their children 🕊💐. Be kind this weekend and appreciate the loved ones in your life ❤️. Be blessed!
Happy Monday and start of the work week! I hope this past Resurrection weekend was a great time of reflection, thanksgiving and time spent with loved ones in celebrating the Resurrection of our Savior ❤️. Silk presses are the most popular for getting the ladies ready for Easter Sunday 💕. Have a blessed start to your week! ❤️.
Spring is here! 💕 🌷. It’s still cold 🥶 , but let’s get a good hair routine going this spring to get you ready for the summer ☀️. Promotional value available for April, May and June 🗓
💚💛💚 This was my client’s FIRST wet set/roller set. I know, people think of roller sets as old school, BUT, they have not gone out of style! I ❤️ a good roller set 🙌🏾. She was open to trying something new and loved her results ☺️.
We’re working my client’s hair back to health and a roller set was a good low heat option to set the hair in its natural state to achieve very similar results as a silk press. Hair turned out beautiful ✨ 💚
Men care about their hair too, they like treatments and trims too. Trust! I love it 😍. (He has his own barber for his line up as that’s not one of my services currently 😁). I love that more men are not only concerned about their hair, but they are concerned about their physical, mental and spiritual health.
Thank you kings 👑, we appreciate when you all take care of yourselves better 👏🏾.
God made you the head, so when you take care of yourself better and in the right way, you care for others better ❤️.
That same message about caring for ourselves better is for us too ladies 😘
Keep getting better ❤️🩹, we rooting y’all on that are actively trying to do better and be better ❤️
Happy Monday y’all ❤️. I pray this was a great day and the start to a successful week ✨. More than one person told me, they never see me on Instagram. Here I am! 😂. Make this a great week!
Love better, grow purposefully, and walk in grace to all that God has called you to be. Much love ❤️
