11/18/2021

Each year the Haley Pilot School community supports families in need with contributions during the holiday season. We have created an amazon wish list for the roughly 80 families in need of items this holiday season. This list also includes frequently needed items (t shirts, socks, shoes, hats, warm pants) that, with your support, we will be able to provide as needed throughout the school year.

People wishing to fulfill these requests may order items from an Amazon Wishlist or make a donation to fund these requests directly to the Friends of the Haley by sending a check to the school or making your donation through our website at haleypilotschool.org. Please identify your donation as Winter Wishes 2021 in the memo line. All wishes will be distributed by Tuesday, December 21, 2021.

At the school community meeting the traffic at drop off and pick up has gotten more complicated with the traffic changes. At Tuesday’s Community Meeting Mr. Prass suggested parents could call the police to request some traffic/pedestrian assistance. The school is within District E-18/Hyde Park. If you have a couple minutes please consider calling the general number and request an officer to be assigned at drop off and pick up. District E-18 main number is 617-343-5600.

Please pass along to other Haley parents who may also be willing to call.

p-EBT (pandemic - EBT) Benefits

Every BPS family recently had additional money loaded into their p-EBT cards. If you are interested in donating the benefit of p-EBT to others in the Haley community, please buy a gift card Stop & Shop or Market Basket in the amount you would like to donate.

What you would do is use p-EBT dollars to purchase your own food and then purchase the gift card for the same amount for a family in need at the Haley.

Cards can then be dropped off at school during school hours (M-T and TH-F) or mailed to the school. You also can make a PayPal donation to the Friends of the Haley on the Haley website and gift cards will then be purchased. Please make a note that the donation is for grocery gift cards when donating by PayPal.

Any questions please email Sherry Eskin at sharona.aviva AT gmail.

We've gotten some questions about the P-EBT cards so hopefully this helps.

Activating your P-EBT card:
Pre-Covid-19 EBT card holders don't have to do anything.

New P-EBT card holders should do the following:
1. Call the phone number on the back of the card: Massachusetts EBT Hotline (800) 997-2555
Enter your P-EBT CARD number (Under your child's name, starts with 600875)

2. Create a PIN:
You will be asked to enter the last 4 digits of your social security number - DO NOT do this
Enter the last 4 digits of your child's case number that was provided on the letter you got in the mail, about 2 weeks ago.

Then enter the child’s date of birth (NOT YOURS) using the 2 digit month + 2 digit day + 4 digit year Example: April 6, 2005 = 04062005

Choose a new four digit pin number and confirm by entering the second time. (Don’t forget this PIN number!)

3. Can’t find your Case Number?
If you do not have the letter with your child’s case number on it, visit https://dtaconnect.eohhs.mass.gov/PEBT to get your case number. You need the case number to activate/PIN your card.

4. How much will be on each card?
You’ll receive two amounts of money to equal $399. The first disbursement was in May and second one comes later in June.

Each eligible student will receive a total P-EBT benefit of $399, but it is coming in two issuances. You have only received the 1st issuance of benefits ($199 per student), keep the card for when the 2nd issuance of benefits ($199 per student) is re-loaded onto the card. We recommend you keep the card after you spend the second issuance of benefits as well, in the event P-EBT is reissued in the future.

5. Where can I use my P-EBT to buy food? Can I use it to buy food online? How do I use the P-EBT card at the Register?
More info on all of these questions can be answered here (https://www.map-ebt.org/uyb) and here (http://www.projectbread.org/news-and-events/news/pandemic-ebt-instructions-to.html)

Thank you again for supporting the Haley Community!
