The Boston Police Department was the first organized police force in the country (1854) and one of the first departments to form an emerald society within it's ranks. Spawned in a local Irish tavern in the South End section of Boston, JJ Foley's was the gathering place after the first half to help solve the problems of the world and come down a little from the job before going home for the evening
We are saddened by tragic loss of Waltham Police Officer who was struck and killed while working a construction job tonight. Three National Grid workers were also injured. The Suspect then stole the officer’s cruiser before crashing it and being apprehended earlier this evening.
Our deepest condolences to the Officers loved ones and colleagues. Our thoughts are also with the injured utility workers and their families and coworkers.
We are saddened by the loss of our friend Billy. Billy was a great guy, would play for the Shamrock Shootout & be in DC for Police Week. May he rest in peace! Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts.

The combined committee outdid themselves with planning and ex*****on of this conference. The bar has been elevated once again!! It is with a heavy heart that we share with you the sudden passing of Ms. Vakita Maxwell, wife to BPD Police Officer Kirk Maxwell. Kirk is one of the nicest guys you will ever get to meet. The loss of his wife is devastating, to him, and especially their young children. In Memoriam: It is with deep regret that the Boston Police Department announces the sudden passing of active-duty Boston Police Officer Brian J. MacLean. Officer MacLean was a 17 -year veteran of the BPD who served admirably in a number of assignments including: B-3, C-6, B-2, D-4, E-18, Operations and Licensing during his career. Brian will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues here at the Boston Police Department as we send our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this tremendously sad and difficult time.
