Cantemus Chamber Chorus - Looking for Tenors and Basses
Cantemus Chamber Chorus is seeking 3 tenors and 3 basses to join us for our upcoming performance of James Whitbourn’s “Annelies”.
In January 2024, Cantemus will present the 70-minute choral-orchestral work on texts from Anne Frank’s Diary Of A Young Girl. Hailed as a masterpiece, this work of haunting beauty evokes the harrowing story of Anne and her family hiding from the N***s during the Second World War. Composed in 2005 by British national James Whitbourn, Annelies is the only major choral-orchestral work based on her words. (Annelies is the formal first name of the young author). The libretto is at times haunting, frightening, humorous and hopeful. Whitbourn's music goes straight to the heart, and Anne's hope in the face of difficult circumstances is inspiring. Cantemus Chamber Chorus will present the work in January 2024 in conjunction with Holocaust Remembrance Day. Our soprano soloist is Lynn Eustis, Director of Graduate Studies in Music and Associate Professor of Voice at Boston University. Dr. Eustis performed the North American premiere of the work and has become an expert in this role. Her performance in this work is breathtaking.
Ringer singers would be asked to join us for a special Saturday rehearsal, the dress rehearsal and two performances:

7-10pm (Newburyport - St. Paul's)
Saturday, January 20 - Performance #1
7:30pm (Newburyport - St. Paul's)
Sunday, January 21 - Performance #2
4:00pm (Swampscott - Shirat Hayam)
