With everyone practicing social distancing, don't forget to make time for some physical activity. The American Heart Association and the American College of Sports Medicine recommend adults do a moderately intense exercise for at least 30 minutes, five days a week. With many gyms being closed a walk is the perfect exercise to get moving and get some fresh air!
In this video, our PTA Melissa, demonstrates three pulley exercises that are excellent for patients with frozen shoulder or just general stiffness and limited range of motion in the shoulders. If you have any questions about these exercises or want see if they would be helpful for you please feel free and give us a call!

We understand many of our patients will be putting their Physical Therapy needs on hold due to COVID-19. To combat this we will be posting some instructional videos of exercises you could try at home!
This exercise is called "Superperson" and is targeted for patients with low back pain. This is a Level 2 exercise so could be difficult for some patients. If you are unsure if this could benefit you feel free and give us a call!
With many people working from home, we want to make sure you're not forgetting posture when setting up your home offices!
BASIC DESK ERGONOMICS- is your desk set up properly?
1. Screen tilted back slightly (if possible) so head can remain upright with the eyes angled down to the screen.
2. Monitor should be below eye level so you can gaze at the screen at a slight down view.
2. Pelvis is slightly higher than knees. You can see that the figure has a little downward slope in the seat pan of their chair.
3. Elbows at sides, contacting the rib cage. A common mistake that we see is the elbows out in front of the body.
4. Wrists not higher than elbows. Knuckles not higher than wrists.

Ever wondered if the amount of time you spend watching TV each day has an effect on your physical function? The American College of Sports Medicine recently featured a study stating that increased sedentary activity might have a negative affect on simple physical activity, such as walking speed. The study found that individuals who watched less than two hours of television per day walked on average 2.4 meters per minute faster than individuals who watched four or more hours of television per day. Reid Clinic is a one-on-one, hands-on physical therapy environment located in Roswell, Georgia. We are a therapist-owned facility specializing in spine treatment, sports injuries, orthopedics, and fall risk and balance.
Reid Kelley is the founder of Reid Clinic as well as the lead therapist and trainer. Reid is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Therapists. He has 16 years of experience treating sports and spine injuries. Reid is a Health Fitness Specialist and holds an APTA Board Certification in Sports.
At Reid Clinic, we are proud to work with all individuals from every stage of life to assist them in reaching their fitness goals.
