It’s that time of year again! 🎓

Last week we held our PreK Graduation Ceremony to celebrate our kindergarten bound kiddos!! 🩶

We are so proud of how far they’ve come and we just know they will make the world a brighter place 🌟 Can’t wait to see them shine in kindergarten!!

Congrats to these littles, and a big thank you to their parents and Ms. Tamera for your help in partnering with us to give these students a fantastic year in PreK! 🎉

We sure hope all you moms out there felt loved and celebrated for Mother’s Day! 💕 What a gift it was to have Muffins with Mom this morning at our school! It was such a sweet morning!

As we’re wrapping up Teacher Appreciation week, we just want to give one final thank you to our amazing staff!!! 🌟Their love for our students, creativity in the classroom, and desire to transform the next generation does not go unnoticed!

🐞IT’S BUG DAY🐛

Today was bug day in one of our pre-school classes! We got to learn all about the different types of bugs, play with pretend bugs, and even got to see some REAL LIVE bugs! 🐜

Bringing the outside into the classroom is a great way to enhance learning and keep children’s interest. Learning isn’t linear and solely obtained from books; we want to always take a hands on approach to education! What better way than playing with some creepy crawlers (made of plastic of course 🤣)?!

Did you know we recently celebrated World Water Day?! 🌎💧

Water play is a form of sensory education that is good at all ages, from our babies to our pre-k kiddos!

From a tub of water with a few toys in it to splash pads, and everything in between… water play is great for exposure and development! 🤩

We had an eggcellent time hunting for eggs on Thursday! 🥳 From our littles to our bigs, they all had fun! We love the eggcitement that comes from looking for bright eggs and finding out what surprise is inside!!

Did you know Wednesday 3.20 was World Oral Health Day?! 🦷

We had the privilege of having a presentation from a dental professional teaching our students about the importance of oral health! Accompanied by a large tooth and big ol' toothbrush, our kiddos were taught about brushing, flossing, and dental hygiene. ✨

Are you brushing your teeth at least 2x daily? Are you flossing to get those icky germies out from tricky spots? Help set good examples for children by modeling great dental hygiene! 😁

Still drooling over Pi Day 🤤

Last week we celebrated Pi Day (3.14) with lots of fun activities! Not only did we celebrate with pizza for lunch and pie for a snack, we had learning activities that taught about parts to a whole and circles!

As we wrap up February today, we wanted to take a moment to share the amazing ways our teachers and students celebrated Black History Month. 🫶🏿 From our infants to our after schoolers, all of our classes learned about the importance of diversity, accomplishments of those before us, and the positive impact Black History has had on our country. We are grateful for the crafts, books, bulletin boards, and so much more that our staff provided for our students to learn. 🖤🤎🤍

Did you know that yesterday was “World Read Aloud Day”?!

We’ll be celebrating a love of literacy all month long, and to recognize Read Aloud Day we had some of our amazing parents come and read books to their child’s classes! 📖

What a treat it is to partner with the families of our students to foster an environment conducive to education and development!! 💜

In preparation for the upcoming weather, we wanted to communicate that at this time we plan on being open Monday, January 15th.

We typically follow the local school districts lead regarding inclement weather closures, but since they are already closed for the MLK holiday, our plan is to monitor the weather closely before any decisions are made. As we monitor conditions, if we feel it is unsafe for our families or staff, we will notify of closure immediately via Facebook and Brightwheel. Keeping our families and staff safe is our highest priority!

SANTA’S COMING TONIGHT! 🤗

🎅🏼Santa recently stopped by the center to check in on all our kiddos and make sure we were ready for Christmas! We all had a blast with him and can’t believe how magical he is! Then he went back to the North Pole to prepare for his big night of work! 🎁

We are obsessed with puzzles!! 🧩

At Shining Stars Academy, we put thought into every activity we provide for our kiddos. Play based learning is SO imperative in child development!

Did you know that an activity as simple as a puzzle can improve fine motor skills, assist language skills as children talk about what they are doing while completing the puzzle, and enable children to extend thinking skills such as remembering, matching, sorting, recognizing and problem-solving?? We did! Which is why we LOVE to give puzzles often to these sweet souls!💜

Our child care center provides care for ages 6 weeks to 12 years, Monday through Friday 6:30am to 6:30pm...and we strive to make every minute count with quality care!! Yesterday was 🍪National Cookie Day🍪 and boy oh boy did we enjoy it!!!

Here's a glimpse into a few of our classrooms decorating cookies yesterday to celebrate! Not only did this activity increase tactile skills, enhance hand eye coordination, and encourage creativity... but it was also SO tasty! 😋

What a treat (pun intended) it was to see how each age group and each child chose to decorate their cookies, we LOVE seeing our students minds at work! 💜

Did you know that music is incredibly beneficial for development of children?! Studies have shown that music:

Y’all 🥹🫶🏼 We absolutely LOVED having our Family Thanksgiving today!! It was so fun having our little’s loved ones join us for a good ol’ Thanksgiving feast!! We truly have the absolute best families and we could not be more grateful!!

🦃THANKFUL THURSDAY!

This Thursday we are thankful for first responders!!! We recently had the amazing opportunity to have Round Rock Fire Department come out and teach all our students fire safety and the importance of their job! Even our tiny babies got to see the firetruck and the firefighter gear!
