There is something special about a bond between a grandson and Grandfather for sure…..😇

“What Are You Reading?” - this week we are delighted to feature Paul Michael. Paul is a lot of things to a lot of people, but first and foremost, he is Fred’s Giddo (the Lebanese name for grandfather) and they share, among many things, the love of books and reading.

Many of us know Paul as the owner of the antiques venue Market Hill. Paul and his wife Debbie discovered Round Top in the mid 1990’s on their many shopping trips. They have been a mainstay in our community for 9 years and in addition to providing shopping experiences year round, they also have the restaurant, Duo at Market Hill, where Chef Gino LLanes delights with a menu inspired by some of Paul’s family recipes and most importantly, his family tradition of gathering at the community table where family and friends can share in one of his important traditions - breaking bread together.

You might not know that every aspect of Paul’s business originates from his true artist’s heart. He is an artist and that influences his business venues and the pieces in those venues. He loves to create sculpture out of raw materials, to paint, and to design many of the furniture pieces you find at Paul Michael Co. He shared that “the creative aspect of my business is the most fulfilling part of what I do.”

Paul has been married to his beautiful wife Debbie for 40 years and they have three children. Youngest son Jake, and his wife Leigh, work closely with Paul and Debbie in the business and after Market Hill was established here in Round Top, Jake, Leigh and Fred moved here full time after seeing what a perfect place it is to raise their son Fred.

When Paul is not creating art and furniture pieces, he loves to read, play golf, travel, and meet new people. He is deeply devoted to his faith and shared when he visited the library for the first time, “this is a very special place, not only for the books and education it provides, but just stepping into this space is a spiritual experience. RTFL is fortunate to have this restored church for its main library building. The library has been pivotal for my grandson Fred to meet friends and become involved in the community. He loves the library and so do I.”
