Vinyl / Records Independent Record Store since 2010!
This one fits under the “something you don’t see everyday” column! Hitting the wall tomorrow along with our regular Saturday used drop is this gorgeous original mono copy of “Kind of Blue” LP! This is definitely the cleanest copy any of us have ever seen. The jacket is clean and the back cover with the white background is free of the usual ring wear you see on these typically. This copy has the misprinted tracklist on both the jacket and Side 2 label along with the Cannonball Adderley (spelled Adderly) misspelling on the front cover. Nice and clean
6-eye deep groove labels too. The vinyl has a few extremely light hairline marks with beautiful gloss. It looks virtually like a new record and is definitely a holy grail, final upgrade copy.
We’re offering this copy up in the shop to keep it local if possible. If you’re not local don’t hesitate to send us a direct message. First week is for the locals then it’ll go online for the first interested party. These grail copies of some of the greatest records ever made are getting scarcer everyday so don’t miss out on this opportunity if this is your bag!
single on “day glow” vinyl now in stock! Got some copies of her new LP back in stock as well!
The “Godfather of Exotica”! Korla Pandit was a child music prodigy. Born in India, studied music in England and moved to the U.S. when he was 12. Fast forward to Hollywood in the late 40’s, he eventually found fame on TV. His show was the first all-music program on TV with over 900 episodes total! In later years with the Tiki revival, he was playing clubs and did a cameo in Tim Burtons film Ed Wood. But, he had a secret!
He was actually an African-American man born in Missouri. He made up his 1st persona to join the Musicians Union (which was not open to African-Americans). After accidental fame, he took his secret to the grave, even his own children didn’t know the truth! What a story!
Hunt down the 2014 documentary “Korla” (it was on PBS) or google his Wikipedia page. We have a small grip of his records in today’s used record drop!
Some highlights in today’s new arrival used record drop. We have a mixed bag, lil’ bit of everythang including a pretty minty copy of Detroits Third Power and Grand Rapids own Del Shannon! Flip video coming shortly.

Back in the day records were sent to publications for review in hopes for a published positive review to help with sales. They often would be accompanied with a “press kit” that supplied some background/info on the artist and sometimes a photo. Here is the Traveling Wilburys 1st LP, promotional stamped and with a press kit. It comes from the collection of a former entertainment writer for the Detroit Free Press. Find it with our used drop tomorrow.
Doing a little VHS restock on this rainy day—-One more day closer to October….🫢
Last week on a record buy, we came across a few 78’s on a sought after Detroit label. 78’s don’t really move very well in the shop, so we decided to list them for auction. But we would love it if they stayed in Detroit. So if you would like to bid, they will be available for pick up. Follow the link in our linktree to our eBay auctions. And there is a link to a great article about JVB records written by Joe Von Battle’s (JVB) daughter. Do yourself a favor and read it! 😁
Some stacks of Kendrick Lamar in stock now! Is July Kendrick month? Sure seems like it!
