Our Durrett Law Offices team had a wonderful morning at the Senior Expo yesterday. Andy and staff had an incredible morning connecting with seniors, caregivers, first responders and professionals in our community. It was a pleasure to participate again this year.

Today we had the pleasure of having John Abram Earle job shadow both of our attorneys BJay and Andy for Cedar Creek’s Career Day.

John Abram spent the morning with Andy learning about business formations, mergers/acquisitions and related transactions. Andy also discussed a current business transaction with John Abram.

He was also able to attend a live real estate closing with BJay and then discuss all the things we do preparing for the closing, as well as post closing matters.

This event will include speakers, age-related information, entertainment, great food and prizes (must be 55 years or older and present to be eligible to win a door prize).

Kelli Slaughter with the Federal Trade Commission, Dr. Jerry Yarbrough with Fyzical, and Laura Seabaugh from the Louisiana Attorney General Office will be the featured speakers of this year’s event.

This means we can conduct any title examinations, closings, and issue title insurance, whether you or your client wants to physically close in LA or MS, for any property located in the state of Mississippi.

We have maintained our title insurance producer license in the State of Texas and BJay Durrett has been a licensed member of the TX Bar Association since 2018.

Please join me in congratulating Ty Sanderson on his new venture, opening his own general legal practice in his hometown of Monroe, Louisiana. Ty has been Durrett Law & Title’s associate attorney in the Monroe office for the past 2 years. In that time, he has put in the hours and worked on hundreds of residential and commercial transactions with our friends and clients in our community. When I first met Ty in May of 2021, he was a young ambitious lawyer and he told me his dream was to open his own practice one day. Selfishly, that day has gotten here quicker than I would have liked, and yet we are so excited for Ty’s personal and professional growth during his time at Durrett Law & Title and we will do everything we can to help him as he starts this new chapter. Ty will continue to work for Durrett Law & Title during the next few months during this transition. I am extremely proud to be a part of Ty’s growth. Meet Alex Walker! Alex graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts, Communication Studies. Alex joined the DLT team immediately following graduation as DLT’s Front of House in 2017. Alex quickly grew into the role of Manager of Operations and Finance across all of our markets. She oversees payroll, banking and reconciliations, day to day office operations, human resources, and all marketing efforts. Her favorite part about her job is the culture at Durrett Law and Title. A substantial part of Alex’s job is promoting that culture amongst her fellow employees by encouraging a growth mindset, setting and achieving goals, and helping employees feel heard. When not working you can find Alex spending time at home with her husband Chase, fiery 3-year-old George, and their pup, Maple. The Walkers are expecting their 2nd baby in late January!
