Thank you to The Sacramento Bee for making Women's Empowerment graduate Kela front page news today!! From the women I've talked to, most unhoused women feel either endangered or invisible on the street – either way, treated like they are barely human. I'm so grateful to Women's Empowerment for helping women find their voices and feel not only human again but empowered. Our media partners play an important role in that as well, so thank you again to Cathie Anderson and Renee Byer for this beautiful article with poignant photos.

While experiencing homelessness, Irene promised her son that this would not be their future. She came to Women’s Empowerment willing to work hard and determined to keep that promise. And she has!
Irene expressed her gratitude, saying:
“I watched Zaier go from being apprehensive to excited and running to class...Thank you for meeting the need, giving us the freedom of play, a voice, clothes, and a sense of a second home we can always come back to.”
By donating to WE for the Big Day of Giving, you are empowering women like Irene! Sharing her story openly as a way of giving back, Irene inspires and uplifts other women.
You, too, can make a difference!
The isolating experience of homelessness can really take a toll on a person's sense of self and hope.
Discovering a broad network of support with people who genuinely care, believe in them, and are committed to their progress can be an incredibly transformative force for many of the women we serve.

Vanessa's story is one of resilience and empowerment. But those didn't always come easy for this WE graduate. Vanessa had a very full plate, working to raise her five girls while attempting to navigate life's challenges. She found herself in an abusive relationship, but she didn't succumb to fear. With the support of Women's Empowerment, she made the brave decision to leave and rebuild her life.
Women's Empowerment provided her with shelter, classes, mentorship, and a supportive community. She even graduated from WE's RENEW paid job training program, which earned her a property management certificate. Now, Vanessa is not just rebuilding her life; she's empowering others too. Using her certification, she is one step closer to fulfilling her dreams of furthering her education and helping the unhoused.
After 3 years with Elk Grove School District, Vanessa has her own home. Her journey is a testament to staying focused on your goals, no matter the obstacles. Let's celebrate Vanessa's incredible resilience and determination! 💪
On Big Day of Giving, join us in making a difference. Together, let's continue transforming lives and empowering women to reach their full potential. 💖

On
At Women’s Empowerment, a part of our mission is to support our students and graduates in regaining safe and stable housing for themselves and their families. The housing crisis in Sacramento makes this challenging, but our team is committed to change! Each woman we serve participates in the nationally accredited Ready-to-Rent course and is paired with a housing specialist as they work to eliminate barriers to housing. Last year, we launched Trellis Gardens, a transitional workforce housing program that now serves as a critical stepping stone for women working towards market-rate rent.
🏠Empower safe and stable housing!🏠 Your gift this big Day of Giving makes our programs and services possible. Together, we can empower change and make a difference!
Each morning of our two-month job-readiness and empowerment program, a student lights the candle and shares her goal, so that WE, as a community, can support her.
"Our past doesn't have to define us, together, we can always find our way." A woman from Session 95 recently shared that her goal is to no longer let her past define her future. WE share her goal, and we will continue to work until all women experiencing homelessness have the opportunity to overcome obstacles, gain stability, and be anything!
We can't do it without your support. Empower women and children as they build permanent pathways out of poverty by making a BDOG gift today to help us reach our $120,000 goal!

Together, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of resilient women working to overcome homelessness and build brighter futures for themselves and their children. As we approach the Big Day of Giving, you too can join inspiring young people like Brittany in giving back!
In 2023, Women’s Empowerment served close to 200 women and children experiencing homelessness, and there are so many more who still need our support.
