After nearly 4 years of work with the community of Knights Landing and Yolo County leadership, WDSLA is proud to announce that this much deserved project is officially OUT TO BID. We can't wait to share updates on construction, scheduled to begin during the spring of 2024.

As a HomeAid Sacramento Board Member, Keith Wilson attended the grand opening of HomeAid's newest completed project; a laundry facility supporting permanent housing for Veterans in Sacramento County. Project Highlight: 38 Degrees North Apartments - Phase 1

Nestled in the heart of Santa Rosa, CA, the 38 Degrees North Apartments stand as a testament to collaborative design and innovation.

Completed in 2021, this 4.87-acre project, housing 120 units, came to life with a construction budget of $5.36 million.

WDSLA proudly collaborated with Kennedy Wilson, TSD Engineering, and KTGY to secure entitlement approval for Phase 1 of this three-phase apartment complex.

Our role encompassed everything from Preliminary/Final Design Review Landscape submittals to hands-on Construction Observation Services.

The standout features of this phase include a luxurious clubhouse area with a resort-style pool, framed by eye-catching custom gabion accent walls, plush cabanas, and an adjacent lounge space complete with barbecues and a generous spa. For our younger residents, a dedicated play area lies just outside the pool.

But the amenities don't stop there. Pet lovers can enjoy a quaint dog park adorned with synthetic turf, a drinking fountain with a dog bowl, and peaceful seating areas.

Additionally, green thumbs will appreciate the expansive community garden, thoughtfully fenced for privacy and featuring galvanized stock tanks as planters, ensuring both accessibility and ease of maintenance. Join us in celebrating this blend of luxury and functionality in Santa Rosa living! 🌿🌆

Project Spotlight: Del Paso Manor Elementary School 🏫🌿

In 2019, WDSLA had the privilege of contributing to the transformation of Del Paso Manor Elementary School, a sprawling 13.4-acre campus nestled within the San Juan Unified School District in Sacramento, CA.

With a construction budget of $38.5 million, our team was entrusted with the task of providing comprehensive Landscape Design and Documentation.

Our journey began with the meticulous development of Design Development Landscape Plans, which subsequently transitioned into detailed Landscape Construction Documents.

These were essential in securing the building permit approval for this ambitious project. Throughout the design process, our focus remained steadfast on adhering to the Design-Build team's budgetary constraints.

Simultaneously, we ensured that our landscape design seamlessly aligned with the District’s established design criteria, facility design standards, and master specifications for construction.

The result is a harmonious blend of architectural excellence and sustainable landscaping that stands as a testament to collaborative innovation.

The WDSLA team is hard at work curating a master plan for renovations along K Street in Midtown, Sacramento! Here, our designers and project managers meet to collaborate hands on to create a plan that creates an identity for the corridor.

Hand drafting is an important part of our design process as you are able to catch things you might have missed on screen. It also creates an opportunity to gather around to brainstorm ideas, quickly make changes, and create different iterations.

WDSLA took a trip to Folsom for a site visit at the future home of Benevento Family Park. Keith Wilson took us to see the site, explore grading changes, take site photos, and get an overall feel for the space.

Continuing the tradition, WDSLA topped off the day with a with our office neighbors, NORR. With delicious food, blind taste testing Sauvignon Blanc's, it was the perfect way to un(wine)d!

Project Highlight! SAN MATEO FIRE STATION 25

WDSLA assisted with design and construction of a new 2-story, two-bay, 8,000 SF fire station. The landscape enhancements encompassed both on-site and off-site improvements. The chosen location for this project was within the existing Borel Park, necessitating careful siting and consideration of impacts of reducing critical park space.

WDSLA took a break from the office last month for our Office Retreat to San Francisco. Both teams came together for a few days of fun around the City. Thank you to the SF team for organizing the festivities and Keith Wilson for picking up the check. ;)

The SF Office took a break from AutoCAD and visited the newly opened IKEA on Market Street! We had a blast, and got some inspiration for new interior decorating ideas for the office. Keith even found a new chair for himself!

Project Highlight! GLIDE FOUNDATION

WDSLA worked with the Glide Foundation to design and construct new landscape improvements at their 1.3 acre property. Our design approach was influenced by the historic architectural aesthetics of the site and drew parallels with the nearby Pierce Ranch property. We prioritized the use of low-maintenance and water-efficient plant materials, ensuring they aligned with the desired garden aesthetic.
