California RCV Coalition
The California RCV Coalition is a diverse nonpartisan movement working to advance Ranked Choice Voting across California.
When California voters are given the choice to use RCV, they do so overwhelmingly. The California RCV Coalition’s mission is to give that choice to more Californians by supporting local campaigns and building the groundwork for statewide adoption of RCV. Adoption of RCV in a state as big as California is a long-term effort. To raise awareness, build confidence, and enjoy the benefits of RCV faster

Another successful day educating people about ranked choice voting and building support! We were at the Concerts in the Park at Warner Center in Woodland Hills again but this time we got to enjoy a Bon Jovi tribute band. The more people we can educate the sooner we can make ranked choice voting the way we elect our officials in California. If you live in California come join our movement!
What a tremendous day we had building support for Ranked Choice Voting and Cal RCV at the California Progressive Alliance Convention on July 27th! The keynote speaker, Jill Stein, came out in very strong support of ranked choice voting in her speech. Picture a California where you can vote your heart instead of always feeling like you have to vote for the lesser evil. A California where candidates are talking about the policies they support rather than mudslinging at each other. That's what we could have with this one simple change to the way we run our elections!
What an amazing day at the Concerts In The Park event at Warner Center Park in Woodland Hills yesterday! The music was really good, the crowd was friendly, and the heat wasn't nearly as bad as I was worried about! And...the support and number of sign ups CalRCV got was phenomenal!
Wish this was real! sigh!

• Replaced partisan primaries with open top-four primaries for state executive, state legislative, and congressional offices.
• Established Ranked-Choice Voting for general elections, including the presidential election, in which voters would rank the candidates.

$35M may be what it costs to become California's next US Senator. Why Republican Steve Garvey’s strange win is a permanent feature of our broken electoral process.
Ranked Choice Voting as a solution isn't just about who gets elected. RCV changes the game so that our state’s elections are fairer.
The Dodgers don’t get to decide which teams they play, and politicians shouldn’t be able to get away with it either.

Ranked choice voting helps more women run for office, and win!
With ranked choice voting, we have more power to choose candidates who will represent us best, instead of just voting for the candidate with the most money. This opens up the playing field for more candidates that represent our communities to run on platforms important to us – not the interests of powerful backers. As a result, more people of color, women, young people, and working class folks have run for office under ranked choice voting and won!
This great piece from highlighting all the great work women are doing to bring ranked choice voting to the city and state level.

Electoral reform comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes, but most advocates want the same things: Better Representation and a more Resilient Democracy. The only way we’ll get both is by working together.
That’s why we’re so excited to join ProRep Coalition! ProRep brings together Californians who believe a better democracy is possible — one in which all voices are heard. They are building a coalition of political parties, activists, academics, and non-profit organizations to seed a grassroots movement for meaningful electoral reform.
Together, we will bridge the gap between the public demand for change and real action, because California deserves a 21st-century democratic system capable of addressing 21st-century challenges.

Our Executive Director, Marcela Miranda-Caballero, penned an op-ed for the Los Angeles Times reflecting on the recent foul(ish) play in the California Senate primary.
