Hey did you see our member JoEllen on KCRA News this morning talking about Bats? -No this is Not a Halloween Story!!
JoEllen who has been a speaker at our Gardener's Market is a bat rehab specialist with NorCal Bats, a non-profit bat rescue organization. She was discussing an invasive fungus deadly to bats that has been found across the Sacramento region. This could cause havoc across California's agricultural economy. Apparently biologists are concerned, but optimistic that the impact in Northern California will be minimal due to the predominant bat species found in the region.
JoEllen explained that if we didn't have bats in the environment more insects would eat crops because the bats aren't there eating them. Check out their website!

Sue created Golden Pond Water Plants, a nursery in Loomis distinct from others, where creative inspiration flows through a botanical garden filled with aquatic plants, displays and features, and a floating island, all of which are acclimated to local growing conditions.
Sue will demonstrate how to create a table top garden in which aquatic plants can be installed. Sue will bring the materials she intends to use to create this table top garden, along with some sample aquatic plants to install in it for a finished product.
