We’ve finally caught a glimpse of slightly cooler weather (90’s instead of triple digits) and everyone in Vintage Land is rejoicing!!! Trips to the park, stroller rides, windows down on the vintage jalopy on the way to the vet - fall is an incredible season here, we can see it on the horizon and we are ready for some fun activities. 🍁 🍂 🥳 Stay tuned for an endless barrage of pugs in sweaters coming your way soon ❤️❤️❤️

One thing that is certain about Dot: she clearly conveys her emotions via her facial expressions. Most often that emotion resembles the 😬 emoji as demonstrated here - on the way home from the vet. We found out her current insulin dose wasn’t doing all that much for her diabetes. The good news? Her blood work otherwise looks incredible, all her infections are cleared, her eye (bleeding within the eye caused by trauma) is resolving and she feels great!!! And we have a new insulin protocol. Thank you to everyone who has supported little Dot (and all the Vintage Pugs! And us!) through ‘s fundraiser. Providing high quality vet care to animals that have been abused and neglected is expensive but they’re worth every penny. ❤️❤️❤️

to the most perfect little spicy Lemon that ever existed 🍋 I miss you every day and even though my Lemon swag has faded to hardly any print left I can’t bring myself to part with it. Stay sassy my girl; can’t wait to see you again someday 💛

Just dropping in to remind you 💗

Little miss Dot loves going to the park to smell the smells. Especially when she relies on that sense most due to being blind (from untreated diabetes). We brought two blankies from and she chose the “I’m blind” one! How sweet and fitting for her. We couldn’t get her to sit still because she was so excited for her treat, but we snapped a few cute photos anyway.

We want to shout out our good friends for doing such an amazing service for pugs and the rescue community. They’ve raised money for us several times over the years and we could not be more grateful to them for all that they do 💛

Happy long weekend friends!

You all know that Guardian Angel pugs fill our souls with joy - Teresa has been a long time supporter of us here in Vintage Land. And when her gorgeous, sweet, charming, and precious baby Faith finally crossed the rainbow bridge (after 15 wonderful years ❤️), Teresa reached out to us to donate Faith’s belongings. Yesterday she stopped by to snuggle some puggles, get kisses, share some memories, shed some tears with us, and become as obsessed with Dot as we are. We are so thankful to all those who join us in our mission. We appreciate the gifts from pugs who have passed that keep our seniors cared for, safe, healthy, clean, and enjoying their final chapters. Together we change lives 🥰

Kiwi is headed to the vet this morning for her very favorite double feature; ear infection and UTI 😭 Poor thing, she’s battled both nearly constantly since she came to the sanctuary 3 years ago.

But in good news, look at her fur! We’ve never seen her coat so full. Honestly we never thought it would grow in even half this well since it was so neglected most of her life. The 2nd and 3rd photos show how bad it was and that wasn’t even at its worst!

Fun fact: Kiwi is our longest hospice resident; in September it will be our 3 year anniversary with her 😍

Poll: does she look better or what?!

08/14/2024

Hi friends 👋 Sorry we haven’t been posting much, we’ve been on summer mode (along with the dogs) and haven’t been getting much content. But we’re doing good and keeping everyone cool and happy. Here’s Kiwi demonstrating 😎

08/06/2024

When we saw Dot’s thin body condition, cataracts and how much she drinks and pees - the “diabetes” alarm bells went off 🚨 Our wonderful vets confirmed it at her appointment today. But the good news is we caught it early!! Dot will need daily insulin injections, but she’ll still be able to live a wonderful and comfortable life. Thank you to everyone who has donated to our Dot fundraiser to help us get her back on track towards robust good health. ❤️❤️❤️

Dot’s face when we told her she still has almost 2 weeks left of quarantine 😬😬😬 Although she’s being provided with high quality food, fresh water, toys, treats, walks, snuggles, treatment for her fleas and ticks and tapeworms…she still has a few choice words for management about not having free reign over her new kingdom and all her subjects. If you see any Yelp reviews for Vintage Pugs that give zero stars and specifically mention management “poisoning” the residents, we promise it’s just Dot and it’s just panacur and it’s for her own good.

Just some of the Vintage Pugs (+ pals) living their best lives and doing what they love the most (sleeping) 😴 Can’t say that I blame them at all!

Meet Sally Cricket, a charming little we rescued from a high-kill shelter in LA. While she may not be a pug, she urgently needs our help. Sally was abandoned by her owners when she was in “liver failure,” a time when she needed them the most. We couldn’t resist her sweet face and stepped in with a medical waiver to save her.

Since her arrival a few weeks ago, Sally has been living the high life; scrambled eggs, chicken, beach trips, sleeps in the big bed to name a few. However, she still faces liver issues, including picky eating and being underweight. We have begun the journey to diagnose her condition: her bloodwork showed elevated levels, a bile test indicated liver problems, and an ultrasound revealed a liver shunt, not liver failure. She will need a CT scan to determine if surgery is an option, and we should have more information soon.

While our followers typically come to expect senior pugs, we hope you see the need and value in saving senior flat-faced dogs of any breed. Our mission is to give the most needy and forgotten senior dogs a chance they otherwise wouldn’t have had. Please join us in giving Sally Cricket the care she deserves ❤️

🚨 NORMAN HAS BEEN ADOPTED! 🚨

Norman longed for a loving family and was heartbroken and confused when he was abandoned at the shelter. Despite the setbacks and false starts with potential adopters, Norman’s patience paid off 🥹

He has now found his forever home with Chris, Mel, and their grumble. They are compassionate and understanding, offering Norman the time and grace he needs to adjust. They are exactly the kind of family we dreamed would adopt him.

Thank you, Chris and Mel, for giving Norman a second chance and showering him with the love he deserves ❤️

05/04/2024

Thank you everyone for the outpouring of support for Norman (and all the other incredible Vintage Pugs). He will be traveling with a canine medical transport to us today and we will begin his glow up. We have had a lot of interest in adopting Norman - please feel free to fill out an application on our website, but we ask everyone for patience. He may be a permanent resident, part of our forever foster program, or available to a good home. Until he’s had a full eval we do not know the best situation for him. To help us with his care there are multiple ways to give, check out the Linktree in our bio for our Chewy and Amazon wishlists. You will also find our donation links or you can contribute directly to our Instagram fundraiser. We’re so grateful to everyone for stepping up and helping us keep saying yes. Norman feels pretty grateful too - we can’t wait to share him with you ❤️❤️❤️

When was faced with a heartbreak we know too well - the loss of her incredible babies Willow and Lakota - she reached out to us and donated so many wonderful things to our precious vintage pugs ❤️ We grieve with her for the loss of her angels, but are so grateful they have joined the ranks of guardian angels here in Vintage Land. All of the pups have been enjoying the new toys and beds, and the moms are loving having more piddle pads and other necessary supplies to keep these sweet seniors healthy and well cared for. Our heartfelt thanks go out to those who pass on the legacy of their pup’s to our rescue dogs and we hope to keep the memories alive through each and every pet we save ❤️❤️❤️

Raisin is just peeking in on you to see how your Monday morning is going 😁

04/27/2024

Gorgeous Raisin is soaking up the sun after yesterday’s sudden storm. This sweet girl is doing amazing after her surgeries and already feeling so much more comfortable 😻

04/25/2024

You may have noticed a growing trend here in Vintage Land - puppies. Because the only thing we cannot abide (aside from seniors dumped by their families 😡) is unspayed female dogs being given away on Craigslist. Whenever possible, regardless of the breed or age, we convince these irresponsible owners to surrender the dog to us. Let us get her fixed, vetted, and into a proper home. Following in the footsteps of puppies like Rosie and Goldie and Peeps and Gumby and multiple others, welcome Goose Berry. Goose is just over a year and has never seen a vet. We’re fast tracking this lady’s vet care because she has no protection from parvo or any other disease and she appears to have already been bred - and that stops with us. Look for updates on her soon, and if you’re interested in adopting a black “shih tzu” please apply. We’re still fundraising for medical bills to cover her and Raisin and everyone else. And Raisin is still waiting to find her forever home. Busy times here - but plenty of ways for you to help. As always, thank you so much for your support in improving the lives of these vulnerable angels ❤️❤️❤️

04/22/2024

Raisin is a sweet old gal - but sometimes she worries. Tomorrow is the first of her procedures to get her healthy (her UTI and double ear infections are under control, but tomorrow is spay day and mass removal. Once she heals, on to a dental and extractions!) She’s nervous about her surgery but also about the bills. We’ve been saying yes a lot lately - you’ll meet someone else new tomorrow - and those “yes” moments are followed by big vet bills. Send Raisin good thoughts for health and healing. And if you can, any amount towards the bills helps us all worry less ❤️

There is one thing we can always count on - Biscuit bringing a little bit of chaos to any situation. It’s as sure as taxes and p**p bags going through the washer in our pockets. Thank you Biscuit ❤️

Don’t let the fact that he looks like a teddy bear fool you: Nugget absolutely slid out from mom’s bathroom stall at the vet’s office, went into the neighboring (and occupied!!!) stall and then peed on the floor at some poor woman’s feet 😑 Never a dull moment 🙃

Fantastic news to share! Sweetheart, lovingly renamed Sandy Cheeks, has found her forever home with Owen, an incredible dad who previously cared for the beloved 🌈 Their heartwarming connection unfolded unexpectedly, creating a story that reaffirms our belief in fate.

Owen, with the recent loss of Ziggy, stumbled upon Sweetheart on the very same day. Despite the raw emotions and grief, he felt an undeniable connection with our sweet girl and reached out to offer her a loving home. We’re overjoyed that fate brought them together, as Owen is the perfect match we had been hoping to find for Sweetheart.

When Vintage Pugs started on our journey in 2021, our primary focus wasn’t initially on adoptions. However, the pressing post-pandemic shelter crisis needed our assistance, prompting us to adapt our approach. We take pride in our unconventional, less formal adoption process, relying on gut instincts to ensure ideal matches.

Trusting our intuition has proven successful over the years, benefiting both humans and the forever companions we’ve welcomed into their homes. Owen’s addition to the Vintage family extends our reach across several states and three countries, showcasing our commitment to finding the perfect pairings.

At Vintage Pugs, there’s a genuine dedication to going above and beyond for every dog, ensuring they find a home that suits them perfectly. Owen’s heartwarming story is a testament to the process that sets us apart. Welcome to the family, Owen, and thank you for opening your heart to ❤️❤️❤️

Lady Bug is the reason we felt so compelled to take on Gumby puppy…she came to us with some of the saddest and most painful rear legs we have ever seen. While there are always surgical options, the success can be difficult to predict and the anesthesia and recovery risky. Instead we dove in on every other avenue available. Thanks to your support, Lady Bug receives physical therapy, has custom orthotic braces, laser and PEMF therapy, a healthy diet and supplements to support her joints. In short: a lot of time, energy, and money that was well worth it. She runs, jumps, tells off the Amazon delivery man and keeps the other dogs in line. She’s happy. She’s without pain. And she’s safe. These days she doesn’t even need her support braces anymore - she has rehabilitated and receives on going care to keep her feeling spry despite her 14 years ❤️ 🐞

Super sorry we missed 🙈 Especially because Bingo has a very important request this week. If every one of our followers just gave $1 we could take care of our stack of medical invoices ❤️ I know it’s hard, believe me, it’s hard to ask. But being a nonprofit we can’t run without donations. We try not to ask often, but things are stacking up. And if you prefer, our and wishlists are always full of very welcome necessities for the crew.

We currently have 12 dogs relying on us; 7 pugs, 2 shih tzus, 1 Pekingese, 1 pug/Pekingese mix, 1 chihuahua thing and something of a small horse with 1 Great Dane. Most have special medical needs including lymphoma cancer, KCS of the eyes, hydrocephalus, severe luxating patella, HOD (leg osteodystrophy), IVDD, K9 cognitive dysfunction, collapsing trachea, and the list goes on.

We can’t care for these deserving souls, take in more needy babies, facilitate adoptions or care for forever fosters without ongoing donations and support.

Thank you for considering us. As always, we appreciate you and could not do it without you ❤️

Fig is uncertain why everyone is so concerned about the weather. He’s not aware of any high winds or rain, not a puddle or flash flood in sight as far as he can tell. Stay in bed and p**p your pants…you won’t need an umbrella and your feet won’t get wet 😂

Photos from Vintage Pug Senior Sanctuary's post 02/18/2024

We absolutely know what you’re thinking. But when you scroll to the second photo you’ll get it. You’ll also get why we named her Gumby. We have tons of updates for you about our seniors and our adoptables. First we wanted you to know the fun never stops in Vintage Land. This 10 week old Great Dane puppy was being given away on Craigslist and we are thankful the owner instead opted to turn her over to us for help. She’s seen our vet. She’s already begun treatment. We are confident this baby can lead a long and healthy life. Sometimes things fall in our laps that aren’t hospice and it revives us a little - we believe in fate and we know our old angels are leading us to the next soul in need. Welcome Gumby ❤️
