Thank you to everyone who attended our first "Caring Minds, Active Lives" presentation. Sharing helpful resources for older adults and their family caregivers through ACC's "no wrong door" approach. Attendees enjoyed a wonderful spread of refreshments made by Chef Cheryl and our in-house culinary team!

Last week we were honored to welcome Mayor Darrell Steinberg , County Supervisor Patrick Kennedy , Nia from Congresswoman Doris O. Matsui's office, Giezi from Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen's office, Elijah from Senator Angelique Ashby's office to participate in the ribbon cutting and grand re-opening of Azalea Lane. This represented 27 beds coming back online after undergoing an extensive remodel project. ACC Care Center continues to be a 5-star, award-winning person-centered skilled nursing and rehabilitation community, serving the greater Sacramento Region..

ALOHA! Last week the ACC Care Center team celebrated summer with their annual LUAU! From whole roast pig to sushi, the food and beverage was plentiful! What a great way for our hardworking team members to come together and celebrate the Care Center Ohana!

Last week, we hosted a well-deserved surprise retirement party for Sumintra, housekeeping. ACC was Sumintra's first and only job! She dedicated 24 years and 3 months to ACC and the ACC Care Center. Fellow staff and Sumintra's family shared that her dedication to the residents kept her going, no matter pain or hardship, she was always there for her residents!
Sumintra began working for the ACC Care Center shortly after moving to the US with her family. She took English classes offered through ACC, enrolled in different professional development classes and even learned how to drive to get to work so she didn't have to wait for public transportation.
ACC thanks Sumintra for her 24 years of dedicated service! We wish you all the best as you travel the world in retirement. This isn't goodbye, as Sumintra has already agreed to come back and volunteer in the activities department!

We welcome Doug Hawkins, NHA as ACC Care Center Administrator.
Doug has been quite successful as a Nursing Home Administrator, transforming communities to a 5 Star rating while in leadership. Doug brings an individualized and heart-felt approach to healthcare.
Doug “grew up” in skilled nursing as it was often his daycare as a child. Nursing is a family affair for the Hawkins. Both of Doug’s parents, his wife and his sister are nurses. His father is a registered nurse and a skilled nursing facility administrator.
His mother is a Maternity Nurse. Doug’s wife is a nurse and works in a skilled facility and Doug’s sister is a nurse and skilled nursing home administrator.
It is obvious the love for this industry runs deep in Doug’s family. Doug worked his way up in the field, working almost every job there is in a nursing home: caregiver, maintenance, dining services… you name it, and Doug has done it! This experience gives him a deep appreciation for every department that makes a Skilled Nursing Community successful. He decided he loved being around residents and thus went back to school and got his BS in Health Care Administration and became a Nursing Home Administrator.
Doug and his wife have three children. He enjoys spending time with his family and also teaching his children about his love of woodworking.
Next time you're visiting the ACC Care Center, be sure to stop by and introduce yourself to Doug, he will be pleased to meet you!
