📚✨ Thanks to the Center’s literacy team and the generous funding from the Literacy Foundation, we gifted 1,500 books to students this summer through our Summer Matters Reading Project! 🎉 We’re thrilled to see our kids dive into stories that reflect their diverse cultures and languages. Natomas STEAM Expo 2024 🧪

Our STEAM Fair portion included science projects from each participating school focusing on the “Classical Elements” of earth, water, air, and fire and other hands-on activities.

Student engineers from each participating site will also compete in an engineering design challenge.

Thank you to our AmeriCorps VISTA member, Sabrina Cisneros, who has been serving with the Center’s AARP Foundation Experience Corps program since May of 2023.

During her term of service, Sabrina has provided capacity-building support to our literacy team and helped to ensure positive volunteer experiences for our AARP tutors.

The Center is so grateful for the support of Sabrina and the AmeriCorps VISTA program! 🎉

During the month of February, the Center celebrates Black History. This month we celebrate the contributions of trailblazers who have served as the pillars of change throughout history.

Join us as we celebrate the triumphs and struggles of countless Black Americans.

Stay tuned as we showcase the unique ways our youth honor and acknowledge black history.

Did you know more than half of Sacramento’s third graders are not able to read proficiently? This puts them at a greater risk for future academic failure. Experience Corps is a proven intergenerational volunteer-based tutoring program that helps children become better readers by the end of third grade. September 15th to October 15th is the month in which we come together to celebrate the history and culture of the Hispanic and Latinx communities.

We celebrate the Hispanic and Latinx community throughout history today and everyday.

Join us this September at Sacramento’s Annual Literacy Summit.
The Summit begins on Thursday, September 28th, at the Guild Theater with a special screening of "The Right To Read." This thought-provoking documentary, produced by Sacramento’s very own LeVar Burton, sheds light on our era's most significant civil rights issue. Mark your calendars and Save the Date!

Second day of in Elk Grove Unified School District The Center is operating 5 at Sierra Enterprise, John Reith, Barbara Comstock Morse, Florin, and Anna Kirchgater Elementary schools. Here, students at Barbara Comstock Morse participate in different stations throughout the program focusing on while also working on and being and Students are able to participate in all activities as the program provides a safe and supportive environment.
