Jenell Novello, Art Teacher at Natomas Charter School - Leading Edge has received a NAEF grant to enter her Art Club into the Sacramento County's annual Chalk It Up event for the last 3 years.
From Mrs. Novello:
"After students returned from distance learning, many traditional school activities like field trips and dances were curtailed. The ability to build connection and community for our students became a challenge. However, NAEF made a difference for Leading Edge Students, by funding grants that supported an afterschool Art Club that I have hosted for the past three years. Experiences that these grants have provided include participating at the annual Chalk it Up Festival, Mural installations on our mural wall, face painting to create school spirit, seasonal window painting, and more! I am grateful for NAEF and the opportunities for meaningful creation NAEF has provided for my students."
Help the Natomas Arts and Education Foundation (NAEF) reach their goal so they can continue to provide grants such as these to our NCS educators!

Help us reach our goal of $15,000 for the Natomas Arts and Education Foundation (NAEF) on Big Day of Giving on May 4!
One of the ways NAEF supports Natomas Charter School is by awarding teacher applied grants at least twice per year. Sarah Strazzo, Kindergarten teacher at Star Academy, was awarded a NAEF grant in Fall 2023 for math manipulatives for her class.
From Mrs. Strazzo:
"Our kindergarteners are getting so much use out of the geometric solids that we ordered! Not only are they using them during our math instruction, but they are also playing with them during free choice times. Kindergarteners learn best through play, and this is no exception! I hear them referencing math vocabulary, including geometric solid names and attributes, while they use them to creatively build and explore. Thank you so much to NAEF for this grant!"
Help us support the amazing work the NCS educators are doing everyday!
