· Our annual Spring Picnic is coming up in a week-and-a-half, on May 19, 2024, from noon until 2:30 PM, at Tempo Park in Citrus Heights. There is no charge to attend and the club will provide burgers, hot dogs and drinks, as well as coin bingo games. Those who attend should bring a side dish (such as a salad or dessert) to share with the group.

· This meeting will feature our first Q&A Panel Discussion on "How to negotiate the buying and selling of coins" which will be led by a few of our experienced collector and dealer members.

· We will also have our regular auction of member-submitted items and the raffle.

· This week our 2024 Spring Show will run from Thursday through Saturday, April 25-27, at the Four Points by Sheraton, 4900 Duckhorn Drive, Sacramento. The show will feature dozens of dealers who are eager to buy and sell coins, currency, medals and tokens, as well as our 2024 Spring Great Coin Giveaway raffle (and tickets can be purchased at the show).

· This week (April 21-27, 2024) is also the 100th Anniversary National Coin Week celebration led by ANA. In honor of this occasion, ANA is offering some special incentives for new members if you join by Sunday, April 29. The offer also applies to those who have not been an active member in the past six months. So if you are considering joining the ANA, this week would be a good time to do so.

KEEP THESE DATES

SVCC Spring Show (Thurs-Sat, April 25-27, 2024)

Our 2024 Spring Show is coming up in a month and a half! We need volunteers to help make this show as fun and successful as our other recent shows, and sign-up sheets will be passed around at this week’s meeting. All volunteers will get free entry into the show, plus a “thank you” gift from the club. If you will not be at the meeting but want to volunteer, you can also contact Patrick Carpenter and he can let you know which volunteer shifts are still available.

Spring Great Coin Giveaway, April 27, 2024 (last day of the show).

As in past shows, the drawing of the raffle tickets for the Great Coin Giveaway will occur on the last day of the Spring 2024 show. You can buy tickets ($75 for a book of 100 tickets, or $40 for a half-book of 50 tickets) at any club meeting in Feb, Mar and Apr, or at a few of the local coin shops.

2024 SVCC Officer Installation Dinner
Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Lake Natoma Inn, 702 Gold Lake Drive, Folsom, CA for those who had signed up and purchased tickets in advance as of our meeting last December. The event will include no-host cocktails beginning at 6 PM, and the dinner/meeting will begin at 7 PM. We will not have an auction, but the event will include our first Super Raffle of 2024, so if you buy some tickets during the evening you will have a chance to win some nice coins, including gold and silver.

· “Other Hobby Night” Show-and-Tell. This week our Show-and-Tell session will focus on the other hobbies we enjoy besides numismatics. So you can give us a short (2-5 min) presentation about your other pastimes, and it will be a great way to learn more about your fellow club members.
· “All Club Donation” Auction. We will have the annual “All Club Donation” auction, in which you can submit items for auction as usual (up to 5 auction lots per member), but from the live auction of each lot at the meeting all the proceeds will go directly to the club to help fund our on-going Club activities. The three members whose lots have the highest total amounts will receive prizes.
· Fall Great Coin Giveaway tickets. We will continue selling tickets for the Great Coin Giveaway which will occur on October 1st, the last day of our upcoming 3-day show this fall.
