I know many have heard that Farmers Insurance DIRECT is pulling out of California. I want to be clear that this is NOT the Farmers Insurance you think it is. It is a subsidiary of the Farmers family purchased from Met Life. It was direct to consumer insurance via their employer, where you had no agent and you called into a call center which is generally not the experience you should want.
It is completely a different business from the Traditional Farmers Insurance you know. If anything shutting down the program should have a positive effect on our home and auto insurance for the company and customers alike.
Farmers Insurance is taking many actions to work toward correcting the issues we are facing as an industry right now and this was a good decision. If you have Farmers Direct and need help or know someone that does please let us know as they are generally eligible for traditional Farmers and we’d be happy to help them.
We are here, we are not leaving the great state, and we are still very open for business.
