Caltrans is alerting motorists that traffic-interfering work is scheduled to close the eastbound Arena Boulevard loop on-ramp to southbound Interstate 5 for realignment, widening, and paving work beginning Thursday night.

The work is scheduled for seven days, beginning 8 p.m. Thursday, July 18, and ending 8 p.m. Thursday, July 25. No two consecutive ramps will be closed concurrently. The extended closure is necessary for worker and motorist safety.

LOCATION:
· Eastbound Arena Boulevard slip on-ramp to I-5 southbound (Los Angeles) in North Natomas.
DETOUR:
· Motorists can continue eastbound to East Commerce Way and make a U-turn at the stoplight to use the westbound Arena Boulevard loop on-ramp to southbound I-5.
· Motorists can also avoid Arena Boulevard and use the Del Paso Road on-ramps as an alternate route for southbound I-5.

Nearby residents should expect loud, intermittent noises from heavy construction equipment, including vehicle backup warning alarms.

Motorists should expect delays and plan for additional travel time for their commute.

🚨 FINAL UPDATE: The 17-acre vegetation fire in the North Natomas regional park is out. Crews will remain on scene, mopping up and putting out any hot spots.

According to the scanner, they have knocked down of the fire, which means they have it under control and it’s headed to the Greenbelt parallel to North Park Drive.

Sounds like power is still out in neighborhoods north of Garden Highway and west of I-5, but traffic lights not fully restored/functioning in several areas of Natomas.

10:31 AM Power in Natomas Park went out and came back on after three minutes, but SMUD map shows 13,000+ without power in the Natomas area.

10 p.m. Sunday – 5 a.m. Monday

DETOUR:

From northbound I-5 to westbound I-80:
Take the eastbound I-80 connector, stay in the right lane and exit I-80 at Truxel Road. Make a left onto Truxel Road, move over to the right lane and take the onramp to westbound I-80.

From eastbound I-80 to northbound I-5:
Stay on eastbound I-80 and exit at Truxel Road. Make a left onto Truxel Road, move over to the right lane and take the onramp to westbound I-80. Take the northbound I-5 connector towards Redding.
