Instead of sending flowers, Dawn’s family encourages donations to Shriners Children's Northern California—an institution near and dear to Dawn's heart. A lifelong advocate for children, Dawn's compassionate efforts had a global reach, touching lives from the Middle East to Central and South America, and right back to her local community in Sacramento.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dawn Byers.

For more than two decades, Dawn poured her heart into Mono Mia, offering not just unique monogrammed gifts but also a sense of community and connection to everyone who walked through the door. Her love for her family, friends, and this special place was a beacon of light that will be deeply missed.

Dawn bravely faced pancreatic cancer, never allowing it to overshadow the love and passion she had for life—be it in her travels, or quality time spent with loved ones, or her cherished moments with the Mono Mia family. She lived each day to its fullest, and those who had the privilege of knowing her felt that love and generosity deeply. Dawn would want that love to continue to ripple out—best expressed, perhaps, in your favorite plaid during your favorite holiday.

As we mourn her loss, we find comfort in the thought that Dawn is still with us in spirit, smiling down and encouraging us to keep Mono Mia thriving, as the unique and loving space she envisioned. We invite you all to continue sharing in the love and joy that Dawn spread so generously🤍
