Gallman construction is officially closed for good in California! 1997 to 2023 was a pretty good run. It’s time for me to head to Texas and chase grandkids. No I’m not retiring, and I don’t know what I’ll do for work there yet, but it will a slower pace guaranteed!

This is the final draft of the Gallman Ranch To Do list! All that is left to do now is minor details. cleaning, staging, selling, packing, get the hell outta here, chase grandkids, slow my life down!

Phase one of Operation Floor the Ranch is complete. I left a surprise for future owners.

Apparently my new flooring for the Ranch has heated things up a bit here, 105 &109° this weekend. LET’S DO SOME FLOORING! I’m not sure if it’s me or victory I can smell?

Started this one in March. Plumbing issues and the customers 3 week vacation postponed it until our schedules cooperated again. 4x16” marble tiles, a seat, niche, window, and my first linear drain among several other minor delays all added to very slow completion of this one.

I was houseboating today. Well, I was doing flooring in a houseboat today, same thing. Now I want a houseboat!

My new laser lever and clamp. No it doesn’t do dishes or laundry, but it makes doing tile layout much easier and faster and funnier and more accurate and yeah it has a green light too.

These are supposed to be the same shade. It doesn’t matter what the sample looks like, it’s often far from the actual tile you get. 3 boxes were too gray and will be traded for lighter tiles. Natural materials like stone or wood are the worst because they can’t be controlled.

The Gallman Ranch master bath is one step closer to completely done with the new shower doors getting installed tonight, thanks to my older friend Jeff. They look great! This shower has enough “product” storage for 6 females or 71 guys. I also need to give credit to Justin Lathrop for doing the tile for me. These tiles are 16”x48” and I don’t have a saw large enough to cut them.

You can shut the door on this project! The Gallman Ranch now has new doors. Trim and flooring next.

How a contractor pulls weeds. They say you have to get the roots or the weeds will just come back.

Another big bathroom remodel in a small bathroom. This one has it all. Drywall, tile, move a wall, plumbing, electrical etc…

I finally finished painting the last room of the Ranch, and uncovered the 72 year old original oak floors. They still look really good!

Drive Line Services and MFCP are two local businesses worth working with. They both did great work and had a very fast turn around.
DLS shortened, balanced and replaced 3 joints and a support bearing on my step van drive shaft.
MFCP rebuilt the old power steering pressure line.

Apparently blue houses with yellow doors is a thing.

The final major piece of drywall is done! My to do list is almost clear.

I got to witness something really great on my day off today. After 3 years, my friends finalized their daughters adoption! Congratulations Eric, Lisa, Jordan and most of all, little Hope!

I’ve never done a job more out of order than this one. This is actually a temporary shower that I just spent 7 days doing. It will be torn out in a few years when the next remodel happens.

If your floor looks like this, I didn’t do it. But I can fix it! You’d especially if you live in North Texas.
