One technique of choreography is exploring alternative ways to work with props. That requires challenging the standard response. A staff for instance is seen as masculine and martial, yet it is also a dance partner, the symbol of alignment, the structure of a list, or could be a representation of the inner child. One person may feel sensual in the fire belt and other like a ballerina in the Nutcracker. A hoop is Saturn to one and Time to another. The narrator of the story may even provide yet another perspective and the viewer entirely something else. Subjective, Objective interpretations ranging from a variety of perspectives. All valid. All relative. Even the story itself, a collection of random stories that somehow work together into a collective theme. Play with it. Roll with it. What is your interpretation?

Those already working with fire any level. Must have past a fire safety training, be prepared to bring your own props, and fuel. White Gas Only.

What: In this workshop Sequoia will work with each person to improve performance-ability to help you improve as a fire dancer and either the show you already perform or help you begin to transform what you do into a show quality performance.

She will meet you where you are and help you uplevel.

A show is more than standing on stage demonstrating your technique. There is an art to performing. In this workshop you will learn tips that will help you put on a better show. Whether you are already performing or just getting started, Sequoia is a skilled performer and teacher with many tips, techniques, and guidance based on years of experience to help you grow beyond where you are.

This is a mixed level workshop. No whips or oversized props for this workshop.

Spring is here, flowers begin to bloom! Did you know you can take classes in person OR virtually? Yes, that is right. April will focus on adding the nutrients so your spring flowers bloom into radiant beautiful sweet smelling geometrical patterns. It is time to walk the beauty way and infuse your life with all the sweetness!

Fact: A study in New Zealand looked at the health benefits of Poi on older adults in improving quality of life as they age. The results? Poi spinners all experienced improved balance, grip strength, and attention span after regular practice.

That’s a twist wrap. The twist: the beginning of the month looked one way. Shows at Dark Skull Manor. They postponed their opening date to next year. So then it was no shows. Then it became a series of last minute shows at Heartstoppers Haunt, Corbetts House of Horrors, Dad’s Kitchen (not last minute), and a private party in Santa Rosa. The wrap: All of the shows for the summer fall season are done. There is a break as we await our next assignment. Stay tuned!

Tomorrow Night, 9/29/2023 come out to Dad's Kitchen in Fair Oaks for Daddypalooza. Burlesque dancers at 7pm, music, food, fun, and a fire show at 8pm. See you there!

Yesterday Sacred Fire Dance performed at the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival! This is our perhaps 4th time performing at this event. It is a wonderful well coordinated event
And… it was fun to work with Bloco Electro performing to live drum music.

This evening, Sacred Fire Dance performs at the PanGaia Festival. 9pm show time following the Drumsum Drum Circle. There was a time, the fire dance and the drum circle were one and the same.
