Seriously one of the coolest sets I've ever been on! Every piece of furniture was stacked on boxes or raised to fit my height into the room. That was fire! Fun International commercial for playing in the US and Canada starring with on the production .michelle.day on the art direction with the casting and with the representation.
3 Letters..2 Words..Infinite Possibilities...
In May, I entered three pieces into a collegiate art gallery showing and one was accepted—my scribble hatch fist of course. 170 pieces were submitted and 40 were selected.
Galleries are cool and all, but I don't think that they'll be the best place for my art and what I'm trying to do with it. Trying to build better habits around consistent creation. And learn how to wrap my art properly. Haha.
I'm still holding myself back. I'm too clean with what I create. Too worried about it looking . Too involved in other people's perception. Too concerned about the technical proficiency and not enough with the expression of it all. And when it comes to art, EXPRESSION IS ALL THAT ART IS!
And yes, the song in the video is me when I was 21 years old just before I joined the military. It's called "Chainless" by Mili Mils. I love and hate doing self-portraits. I mean on the one hand, self-portraits are one of the most difficult subjects to draw or paint. And I like to see how my skills and look have progressed over time..But on the other hand, what am I going to do with a bunch of self-portraits? Maybe when I'm famous someone will buy them.
I learned a lot on this oil painting, but I'm glad it's over. Oil is too slow for my taste. Or maybe I'm not yet patient enough? Only time will tell. Until then, I'd love to paint a few more murals! https://instagr.am/p/CuNwNpPP__P/

Ready or not, when the door of opportunity opens, walk through it!
2 weeks ago I said I wanted to create large-scale artwork that mattered. I had absolutely no idea I was going to put up my first mural at 2 weeks later as a part of 2023.

Experimenting with mixed media (watercolor, charcoal, ink, chalk and oil pastels) and some collage work. Plus, a very early sneak peek on my first oil painting.
It's so wild how frightening something as simple as trying new artistic techniques can be. But fear isn't something to be afraid of. It's something to be aware of. Fear shows me what I love and care about—what's important. If I'm afraid to die it's because I want to live.

I really believe I would've been better off cheerleading my senior year of high school instead of playing football. At least the skills would've been more transferable to my adult life. Better late than never though.

Bravery is not without fear. Bravery is despite fear. Living in my truth is far scarier than I imagined. Imposter syndrome isn't something that's defeated once, but continuously battled and beaten back. Everyday, I'm getting more and more comfortable sharing more and more of my artistic self. One day I'll look back and wonder how I ever lived my life not knowing who or what I was.

I hesitated posting this! Even though it was an honor to show my work at the for the celebration by Sacramento Historical Society. Even though I was chosen to display art alongside just 2 other artists for . Even though spectators marveled at my work and congratulated me..I still hesitated.
But hesitation is a part of the journey. Not only hesitation, but fear and doubt. They are not obstacles. They are bits of information. They tell me to slow down and proceed with care. They tell me that I'm doing something important and meaningful. Something new and grand. Something that may reap results I didn't plan for and never expected.
