"Video games foster the mindset that allows creativity to grow." (Nolan Bushnell)
Info Tech students took a break today and brought all of the best games to class! This day is perfect for our students to connect with each other on a different level, and also for Mr. Fabera to teach them a lesson in how to win! Overall it was a win for us all.
This afternoon we were catching some Panther Pride as we recorded at Birch Run High School. Our student Marina was capturing the impact of bullying on students. We can't wait to see the finished product!
Whats on the menu tonight? Our students recorded at one of region's best restaurants, MI Table. They worked hard to capture interviews with the owner, staff, and captured the story of this amazing place. Of course they enjoyed the food themselves.
Thank you to the MI Table crew for your support of our students.
Keeping active is what we do best. Last night after returning from our Lansing trip, our student Greg went out to the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge to capture some of the best footage possible for one of his BPA competitions. Kudos to Greg for showing so much initiative!
A huge thanks goes out to Andrea Martinson, the Park Ranger who gave us the best tour possible. Without her support this would not have happened.
Today we found ourselves in East Lansing for the annual BPA Fall Leadership Conference. Our class officers spent the day gaining necessary skills to be stronger leaders in the classroom.
What do corn, cameras, and drones have in common? Today had all three happening! This morning we started in Auburn at the Koch Farm, recording footage with our PM Video Production Team, then went to Chesaning to capture our AM Class President's senior photos, and wrapped-up at Koch Farms again, this time recording footage with our AM Video Production Team. As always our students impressed us with their skills and creativity!
Special thanks to Koch Farms for welcoming us with wide-open arms.
This morning our students stepped up to clean-up. The Info Tech AM students went across the campus to pickup trash and anything that didn't belong. This service opportunity was setup by the class officer team, to remind our students of the importance of community service. Of course they had to have fun along the way too.
I believe that teaching is more than an in-classroom duty, it's being there for your students 24/7 when they need you most. Today I was in Old Town Saginaw with Andrew to capture his senior photos. I'm not a photographer, but I'm whatever my students need me to be. I'm honored to be a small part of their life story.
Shoutout to our alumni Alex Hergenreder (Digital Minds Photographer) for volunteering to professionally edit these photos.
This week our students are learning all about networks and how they connect together. We couldn't help but have them create their own network cables from scratch. Students said their fingers were hurting, but they had a good time...we'll take that as a win!
Tonight we're at the Birch Run homecoming game, capturing the perfect photo. Our student has the challenge of capturing a single photo of athletes showing emotion in the game. Let's get that photo, and go Panthers!
Some of the Info Tech program was on the road tonight, visiting the Saginaw Waste Water Facility. They had the task of capturing footage showcasing the waste water process and how it contributes to safer/healthier water. Pretty cool stuff.
Thanks to the team at the plant for giving a thrilling tour and helping our students practice their skills!
Our competition season is warming up! Today students were visited by the videographers from Digital Minds. They helped students learn the basics of camera settings, how to utilize our equipment properly, and even pulled out the drone to test out aerial footage techniques.
We can't thank our community members enough for the support they provide our students!
This week the Info Tech program spoke up and chose their 2024-25 Chapter Officers that will represent them this year. I'm proud to say they chose wisely! Let's congratulate these budding leaders.

The crew has been up and running around. One quick lunch and we'll be moving onto our next adventures. The video production team has their finals round 2-6pm. The rest of us have a river tour planned. It'll be a great day!
Amazing news in Chicago! Our Video Production Team placed in the top 12 nationally for round 1! They'll do a second round competition tomorrow to decide the final rankings.
If you didn't know, we're in the windy city for BPA nationals this weekend. Students have been working extremely hard to prep for their competitions, complete open testing, and are currently working on certifications. It's a crazy weekend, but our crew is up to the challenge.
Life lesson, slow down and reflect on where life has led you and to show gratitude to those around you. It was a simple lesson today, followed by a challenge to create a positive note for other students to see. Students ran with the challenge and filled a board full of love for each other and even included notes for Fabera. I can't express how honored I am to be a part of their lives.
This bulletin board is now my favorite part about this classroom.
Let's add a bit more joy to this already happy day! Our photographer from BPA States just finished editing all of the headshots from the trip. Be sure to check them out at our photo gallery.
I never thought I'd ever say this, but tomorrow is a snow day for SCC. Enjoy the extra long spring break.
