Study evaluating EXERCISE intervention SEEKING individuals with INDOLENT NON-HODGKIN LYMPHOMA 06/15/2024

Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale researchers are seeking participants for a study evaluating exercise intervention on immune function in individuals with indolent non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

You may be eligible if you:
• Are between the ages of 18-80 years old
• Have been diagnosed with indolent non-Hodgkin lymphoma
• Are currently receiving treatment or are at least 6 months post-treatment or are currently waiting and watching (treatment naïve)
• Are able and willing to exercise

Participation will require you to complete up to 2 visits to the Mayo Clinic Scottsdale campus over the course of 12-16 weeks.

Meet Blaze, our innovative robot operated by Linen and Central Services at Mayo Clinic. Blaze transports instruments and supplies to nursing units, making deliveries quick and efficient. 🤖⁠

Blaze’s safety features include sensors, location mapping, and visual cues to ensure smooth operations even in high-traffic areas. This is currently piloted on Nasseff 8 through July; we will then gather feedback for future expansion.⁠

There will be approximately 299,010 new cases of prostate cancer diagnosed in 2024, according to the American Cancer Society.

Treatments vary, including chemotherapy, hormone therapy, ablative therapy, immunotherapy, targeted drug therapy, radiation and prostate robotic surgery.

Rich Byrne, M.D., has been named the new chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Mayo Clinic in Florida, effective June 19.

Dr. Byrne joined Mayo Clinic in April 2024, as a senior associate consultant in the Department of Neurosurgery. Previously, Dr. Byrne was The Roger C. Bone, MD, Presidential Professor of Rush University, while also holding positions as Medical Director and Chairman, Department of Neurosurgery, Rush Medical College, and academic appointment of professor of Neurosurgery. He specializes in brain tumor surgery, surgical treatment for epilepsy, skull base surgery, pituitary surgery, trigeminal neuralgia and radiosurgery. Dr. Byrne has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and two books on these subjects.

In addition, Dr. Byrne has served in many national leadership positions in neurosurgery. He is past President of the Neurosurgical Society of America, is a Director of the American Board of Neurological Surgery, a member of the Board of Directors of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and is President-elect of the Society of Neurological Surgeons, the primary academic society in the United States.

A drug study at Mayo Clinic aims to alleviate bipolar depression. You may be a candidate for a Phase 2 clinical trial at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. We are seeking local male and female patients ages 18-65 experiencing treatment-resistant depressive symptoms of their bipolar disorder. This study is investigating the FDA approved stimulant Mydayis®. Participation includes 11 in-person visits and 8 phone/Zoom visits over 18 weeks. It begins with an 8-week double-blind, placebo-controlled phase, which means there is a 50-50 chance of getting the Mydayis® drug or a placebo. The 2nd phase is an 8-week period in which all participants get active Mydayis®. Eligibility for the study includes no lifetime history of co***ne or methamphetamine abuse or dependence and no current alcohol or op**te abuse or dependence.
