Hello All! Let me take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Kimberly and I am a Holistic Skin Wellness Consultant .
I am moving away from the traditional esthetic methods and the toxic and inflammatory treatments the have been pushing.

Okay...so, I don't have much of a poker face and I am pretty sure this is what I looked like when a client said this to me...

The beads found in almost all of those facial scrubs can be harsh and abrasive.
They can make little tiny micro scratches all over your face, which basically are considered little wounds.

Now your skin has openings which can allow for germs to enter your skin...bluck!

Choose a gentler way to exfoliate. There are now products that use enzymes to exfoliate. The enzymes are from fruits, like pineapple or pumpkin.

Rember, they still exfoliate, so don't overdo it. 2 to 3 times a week will suffice. If you are 50 or older, just once a week.

So many choices! Which one to use?!

From my last two posts, you should know the importance of cleansing and cleansing properly. However, how do you know what to use?

I can tell you right now, you should cross off foaming cleansers. The vast majority of them can be drying and if you are already dry...

Gel cleansers are generally water based, don't foam as much and are good for sensitive skin types.

Cream cleansers are more emollient (hydrating) and are generally good for dry skin types.

So which one should you use? Well, the answer is simple, consult a trusted and knowledgeable professional that carries a clean line of products.

I was talking to someone and when they found out what I did they said, “ Can you do peels?! I just want to peel it all off!”, as they ran their hands down their face.

I have found that there is thinking out there that if you scrub, scrape, and peel enough, the wrinkles and blemishes will just “disappear from the face”.

So…not to bust some bubbles out there but nothing is farther from the truth. Over cleansing can have the same detrimental affects as leaving dirt and ‘ickies’ on your face, if not worse

When you over cleanse you strip away the protective barrier, leaving your skin vulnerable to environmental pollutants, which can, as well, cause redness, cancers and rapidly age your skin.

Plus, when you use excessive force on your skin it causes a wound and your skin goes into repair mode. This can cause your skin to send extra melanin (responsible for skin pigmentation…coloring, tanning) to help repair the “self-inflicted damage done”, leading to increased “brown spots” on your face in the years to come.

So, if we go back to the car’s paint, essentially you are chemically removing that clear coating, leaving the paint exposed allowing for rust and decay to set into the car’s body.

Your skin has a wonderful, balanced ecosystem in place… Be like Goldie Locks, treat it ‘just right’, so everything remains in harmony.

Most Vitamin A products just sit near the top of the skin, cause irritation and swelling and can possibly oxidize. This process produces collagen for ‘wound’ repair. Basically, just poofing up your skin to look like it’s ‘smoothing’ out the wrinkles.😧
