For this week’s , we want you to meet Mark Harrington, Supervisor of Property Services!

Mark has been with the City for almost 25 years; he started as a custodian in 1997 and was later promoted to supervisor in 2007.

Mark supervises 12 custodians, and it is their job to care for City buildings, including City Hall, 50 Bridge St., the Police Department, Fleet, Casa del Hidalgo, the Visitors Information Center, and Parking Garage. They clean, pressure wash, vacuum, dust, and remove garbage from these facilities. Mark is also responsible for setting up the Alcazar Room for numerous meetings. During hurricanes, Mark and his crew sandbag City buildings, as well as clean up debris after the storm. During COVID, Mark and his crew were extremely busy deep cleaning, pressure washing, and sanitizing City facilities.

“I have been in St. Augustine for over 45 years ,” said Mark. “In that time, I have met so many awesome people here. I especially appreciate all of my coworkers and staff who work together to make the City as wonderful it is.”

Outside of work, Mark is active with Anchor Faith Church and enjoys golfing, going to the beach, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his dog, Kodak.
