Change.

Sometimes, we walk through seasons for longer than we'd like to.
Sometimes, seasons end long before we'd hoped they would.

There's been a lot of change around here lately - change that is inevitable but that is coming sooner than we anticipated. I'm feeling all the things. I feel like I'm on a rollercoaster that I can't get off of. I'm stuck somewhere between heartbreak and grief.

Seasons come and seasons go.

God gives and God takes away.

Sometimes that feels like loss and sometimes it is purely a good Father protecting us from less than what's His best for us.

The inevitable changes of life, those are often out of our control.
But our perspective - that's fully up to us.

When we can't change our circumstances, God, help us to change our perspective.

It's okay to not be excited about change. It's okay if it doesn't feel good. It's okay if you dig your heels in. It's okay if some days are hard. It's okay if you feel moments of hopelessness.

But our perspective matters.

All the disappointment in the world can not change God's promises to us. Redirecting our perspective in the midst of unwanted change is essential so that bitterness can not take root in our hearts.

God, thank you that even though things are always changing around us, You NEVER change. Help us to give thanks when we don't feel like it. Help us to find joy in the small things and surrender control of the big things, believing & trusting that You're busy working them out for our good because that's what You do.

It's been five months since I've sat down at this computer to share my thoughts with you all. I've had it on my to-do list pretty much since the last time I posted, but life has been hard and messy and I feel like I haven't been able to take a full breath since September of last year. It's been one thing after the next - such is life, I suppose. I have taken time off because I've HAD to... just to keep my head above water. I've been barely surviving, and it shows in most areas of my life.

Yesterday, my husband asked me a question that stopped me dead in my tracks. Every year around this time, we pay a few hundred dollars to keep The Faithful Merchant registered as a business. It's that time again and he asked me if I wanted to keep moving forward or if I felt like it was time to let The Faithful Merchant go. I feel like I've been in a long season of letting go.

I didn't answer because I didn't have an answer in the moment. Despite the fact that it's been almost half a year since I've posted or hosted a sale, I know I'm not ready to walk away from something I've poured so much of myself and my time into.

This little business, though not what it once was, has carried us through some extremely difficult seasons of life.

For a time, it was our main source of income.

Over several years, we sold enough to surpass my husband's full-time income.

At one point, we had over 100 women throughout the country selling our necklaces to their friends and families.

And then there were seasons of drought - like the one we're currently in.

Through all of it, this little corner of the internet has allowed me to share from the deepest places of my heart. I've come to realize that this space has become something that I need more than it could ever need me.

So, I'm here to say that I'm gonna stay right here.

I'm gonna keep showing up. I'm not working with a plan or trying to trick the algorithm or post on a schedule to get the most views or likes or sales. Been there, done that. I'm too exhausted.

I'm just going to show up when I have something to say and pray that it encourages even just one of you.

Because if there's one thing I know for sure in this season, it's that I still have a lot to say.

And I may still have some things to sell.

We'll take it one day at a time.

I hope you'll stick around.

Many of you have asked for an update! Your concern, your prayers, and your support & encouragement has all meant so much to us. It's keeping us moving forward, one step at a time!

We're starting to feel some relief from symptoms. I'm still the most sensitive and symptomatic, and I have a good plan to begin healing once we get settled. We've been staying at our dear friends' house and have been so grateful for somewhere to rest and sleep.

We signed a lease for a house in town and are moving next weekend. Praise the Lord! After looking at 20+ houses, we ended up getting the one that was the best fit for our family - and it just so happened to be the one we liked the most. 💕

I feel like it hasn't really hit me yet, but it will soon as we begin to move. We've moved a lot in the 18 years we've been together, but this one is different. We're not moving a bunch of furniture, because we don't have any yet, but what we did keep (in our storage unit pictured) has to be cleaned before bringing it into the new house. Every. Single. Thing. 😳 But we have a storage unit until the end of December, so we'll be able to somewhat take our time. And we have amazing friends willing to help us.

It's been a rough few weeks. We feel like we're somewhat grieving and everyone has taken turns falling apart in their own way. We're feeling all the things. But despite the heartache, I've had unwavering peace that I know is straight from the Lord. I'm learning so much along the way - not just about mold and mold illness, but about much, much more that I hope to share later.

For now, I just wanted to let you all know that we're good. We're taking time to process and rebuild. We've been overwhelmed with the donations that have come in through our GoFundMe. You guys have been so generous. It's a constant reminder of God's faithfulness to us. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

I know I said I was back & not going anywhere, and I meant it. But then everything changed.

I've been feeling sick on and off pretty much since the beginning of this year. Health issues that won't get better despite my best efforts, weird symptoms that I can't explain, thoughts that it's all in my head and maybe this is just how it is. Hopeless.

I started suspecting that there might be a deeper issue but wasn't sure until my kids started feeling sick, too. Even the dog had symptoms.

Toxic mold. At levels that a person shouldn't live in. I got the results from the test on our house and although my suspicions were confirmed, I had no idea it'd be as bad as it is.

We immediately started staying with a friend. How gracious our friends are. We have a place to stay through November 21. And by Tuesday, all of our belongings need to be out of this house - which isn't too hard, since we have to get rid of most of our things because of health concerns.

So here we are, no beds, no couch, no more cute decor signs or throw pillows or wicker baskets (these are a few of my favorite things). And as of right now, no new place to live. All of this has been overwhelming and heartbreaking and downright hard.

But God is good. And I see that in the ways people have checked in on us, how they've let us cry on their shoulders, and dropped everything to help us when we felt absolutely paralyzed by it all. I see it in the way that even though everything feels like it's falling apart, I have this peace in my heart and I know that we're going to be okay. Actually, I know that we're going to be better than okay. Because I believe that there are blessings waiting on the other side of all of this.
