When Al and I had met in January of this year, I knew how badly he wanted to create change and I was so excited for him to take a chance on himself. Back-to-back success stories over here! It was a pleasure coaching Scott, a CrossFit athlete looking to get more competitive within the sport. Throughout coaching Scott, he made mounds of PR's in the gym, became the fittest he had been for a long while (competitively made it the furthest he has to date within the CrossFit competitions), and created a healthy relationship with food. "I’ve struggled with being overweight my entire life. I’ve tried all the diets on my own; from the low-carb diet to the free macro calculator phone app. I’ve experienced limited success and a lot of failures. I’ve long recognized that I’ve had an unhealthy relationship with food, and I’ve always wanted to change that. Still, I’ve approached every diet as a temporary change knowing I’ll eventually just go back to my old (unhealthy) way of eating.
So, when my wife suggested we meet with coach Holly. I was interested, but a little cynical expecting yet another failure. There was something very different though about this process. First, meeting with a coach changed everything. Having some weekly accountability with Holly provided much-needed motivation to commit to this every day. As I began to see results in my behavior and in my body composition Holly earned my trust, and I began to believe in the process.
Second, the entire macro concept proved to be a game-changer for me. I’m now learning to approach food as fuel instead of entertainment. Now, I eat what I need to get where I want to go. This has changed my body (losing fat and gaining muscle) and my performance in the gym which is the reason I wanted to meet with Coach Holly in the first place.
I’m a physician. I’ve known for a long time what I should eat. My problem wasn’t a knowledge problem. It was a behavioral problem. Working with Coach Holly helped me commit to behavioral change, which has in turn, radically changed my life for the better.

HPC Performance Center is excited to announce that it will be running another round of Champion Camp for this Summer!
June 3rd - August 1st, I will be offering group strength and conditioning classes twice a week for kids (14-18 years old).
Class times include every Monday and Wednesday from 11-11:45am.
This class is meant to teach from a very basic level, and slowly but surely progress in a way that is safe, effective, and a lot of fun! Any kid is welcome to join in and be a part of HPC Performance Center--positive environment guaranteed.

An encouraging community makes all the difference. Yesterday I heard more cheering in this building than ever before, and as a result…people pushed further had it not been for someone else saying to keep going!
What you bring to the table actually does matter. Challenging moments can bring out doubt, fear, and hesitation. We’ve all been there. But, how many of us have been so greatly impacted by just one conversation, one person, or one instance that provided us with the strength to continue in a forward way?
Be a contributor. Be the positive. Be the encourager. Be the supporter.
In a world where stress can be high, hardships happen, roadblocks occur and life can take unexpected turns we need more that say, “keep going, you got this.”

Every time I post one of these client success stories, I am reminded just how lucky I am to do the work that I do. "I am a fitness coach. I know how to eat healthy and exercise. I’ve always been successful at losing weight and eating right when I put myself to it. However, my entire life changed in 2022. I had a baby. I can tell you everything you once did and once knew changes when that happens. Body is different, time management is different, lifestyle is different. You name it, it’s not the same. I honestly thought the baby weight would go away without too much effort after my son was born. I was wrong.
I realized pretty quickly that what I did before to eat healthy was not going to work for me now that I’m a mom. I knew how to eat right and lose weight, but I didn’t know how to do it with a child. I felt a bit like a fraud. Here I was making a living as a fitness coach, and I couldn’t lose the baby weight.
Holly met me right where I was at. I told her I don’t have the time to meal prep. She helped me find simple meals with minimal prep work. Easy on the go ideas to help me be successful without being overwhelmed. She showed me that it doesn’t have to be hard. She helped me find a routine and even alter the routine when I changed jobs.
I am now where I was at (weight wise) prior to having my son and I feel confident and healthy. I want my son to have a healthy and happy mama and I can proudly say that he has that. I know I did the work but having Holly there to guide and encourage me made a world of a difference!"

Melissa Swanson Dummer started with HPC back in the Spring of 2023 when the first Summit Project was launched. She had never heard of macros before, but she did have an eagerness to learn, and that made all the difference. She believed she could, and she knew what she wanted out of this process. Outside of nutrition, Melissa is very active in her outdoor lifestyle. As you can see in the picture attached to this post with her kayaking through some sea caves. Her other goal was to complete a Quorterlopette (cross country skiing event) with her Father this year.
Taking care of ourselves goes far beyond our surface goals. In return, we get more time, we get more moments, we get more out of life! Congrats to Melissa, and thank you for taking the leap on yourself.
"Higher Purpose Coaching and the SUMMIT Project fell onto my radar unexpectedly last winter. I was in an unhealthy place, feeling icky about myself, weight climbing, and blood work numbers changing in an unhealthy direction. I'd been making a lot of excuses...a lot! I needed to do something more, I was stuck and feeling really out of control. I had rejoined the gym 4 months prior to learning about SUMMIT and I wasn't noticing any change.
Enter Higher Purpose Coaching (HPC). I found myself drawn to the invitation to explore a few concepts that I knew nothing about before the SUMMIT program. HPC's SUMMIT group instantly became a community to lean on, it was amazing to feel supported and encouraged by a group of awesome humans. While an underlying goal was to lose weight and feel more fit, the much more pressing goal was to feel stronger, to have more endurance, to increase my strength training so I could be physically stronger, and to be brave enough to try a chin up on the bar (thank you DK for the encouragement). I was challenged and encouraged by Coach Holls to try new things, to push myself, to invest in myself.
The SUMMIT program introduced me to concepts completely unknown to me. With good coaching, teaching of new concepts, some eye-opening conversations, and being told I did not have to eliminate any foods from my diet, I was able to embrace these new ideals and go for it. I needed someone to help hold me accountable, and that is exactly what Coach Holls offered me. She was true to her word every step of my journey and I am so grateful for that 💜When Coach Holly tells you to trust the process, you can take her at face value, she means it and she knows what she's talking about, if you trust the process, you will see results, I did.
While I did lose pounds and inches (don't get me wrong, yes this feels good!), so much more important to me are the things I gained through my SUMMIT Experience. I gained so many things: a higher purpose for myself and my goals, internal motivation, confidence in myself, awareness of how to eat cleaner and better for my body, and a big boost in my emotional well-being. For these things, I'm full of gratitude and in a much better place overall."

A little different spin on the post today, and it’s the perfect season to start reflecting on this kind of change.
Adversity has hit hard – that’s life, and a relatable note for all. More often than not it would be easier to blame that person (spouse, boss, friend, coworker, acquaintance), or that situation rather than looking inward. It took me a couple weeks after feeling a huge blow in my own life to start looking at the parts I had control in, but also how I can stop fighting back on myself.
Fear vs. bravery
Resistance towards change vs. letting go
Stuck vs. providing action
Even the most unfair, unsettling, and upsetting moments where you’ve truly been mistreated can leave you, unknowingly, as a victim in your own life. This is where you become your own adversity (adversary), and this is where things become really uncomfortable. Finding a new version of you takes a lot of relearning, reassessing, and reconstructing.
So, understand this:
The landscape is out of your hands, but the way you navigate it gives you that power back. Start believing that you are capable in moving forward.
Spend some time on feeling out the really hard moments, but don’t let it take up too much space that could be used for growth, knowing you are capable of moving forward, and leaves you daydreaming – make sure you’re your own ally, and not your own adversity.
One of the many core priorities with Higher Purpose Coaching, is to have people experience the unimaginable; to create moments and memories that transfer from gym walls and our plates to beautiful places.
This is hike #2 of the year for client, Chad Leither. You might remember him from earlier this year when he took on Joshua Tree National Park. This is yet another milestone for him as he gets closer to his ultimate goal--Kilimanjaro.

"I had the opportunity to hike the Fimmvoduhals and Laugavegur Trails. They are two trails that combine for a 4 day, 3 night backpack adventure in southwest Iceland. It requires you to bring everything (except water). The distance is 53 miles with total change in vertical climb of 12,000 feet. The challenge of this particular trail is the unknowns of weather. The trail is only open for 90 days every year. You have to be prepared for high winds, cold temperatures, rain, sleet and snow.
Reflecting back on the hike, it was extreme and required more technical hiking than any of my prior hikes. A strong body and mind were key to remain safe and not slip into a dangerous situation. During one of the strenuous climbs of nearly 1,500 feet, I realized on that particular day it was my two-year anniversary of a surgery that had me start over. As I drove my hiking stakes into the volcanic rock and raised my legs one step at a time, I truly have coach Holly Pelzer and Higher Purpose Coaching to thank. I recall the day I signed up with her, I told her I wanted the strength and stamina to do exactly what I was doing at that moment. Thanks Holly for being a huge contributor to my chase and pursuit of life! The adventure bug continues to grow."
